Gone to Sheffield United

Money for us as any remaining transfer fee is paid in full

20/25% Cardiff will receive from the £10 Mill Sale

How the hell has he managed to get that move??

Not good enough for a team that wants to get promoted to the PL. Sheffield United have had a bad start and I'm not convinced this will help them.

Good for us though.

Ipswich offered £5m but it was rejected, apparently we have a 25% sell on clause

He is a good player, good age, and came so close to getting a goal agaist us, but for a great save, will do well there and as a player.

Great for us with the sell on clause. Not sure what Luton or Sheffield see in him though.

As was said on the thread about him after that game, he gets turned way too easily.

Luton fans are criticising him every week.

I used to think he'd be a top defender one day but having my doubts. Certainly not good enough for a team that wants to get promoted from the Championship.

Probably end up with egg on my face when Sheffield United go up

Sheffield Star suggest they paid £10m for him

I was shocked when we got 7m for him! How the hell has he gone for 10m after getting relegated with Luton! Some dodgy agents about I think.

How does the sell-on clause work?

Do we get (for example, assuming it's a 20% sell on clause) 20% of the transfer fee paid to Luton (so if £10m we get £2m) or is it 20% of any profit made by Luton ( they paid £10m I thought for him so no profit therefore we get nothing).

Or was only part of the initial transfer fee actually paid by Luton to us and now they have to pay us the rest?

Anyone have any idea how these things work?

All agents are dodgy, it's part of the job description I believe.

Sometimes they're a percentage of the profit and sometimes they're a percentage of the whole fee. But I think when it's simply described as a sell on clause, it's a percentage of the whole fee.

Would have thought percentage of profit more likely on youngster not player in mid/late twentys,...... but sell on does refer full price paid as you say

They are desperate. They were knocked out of the cup in the first round and have lost all four league games. They are at the bottom of the league with zero points, Selles can't last long there.

There's no sell on

Tan finally made money on a transfer, got it right for a change. Making money on transfers, never thought I would see that day.

His agent is brilliant

Re: McGuinness

Makes me think we could have sold him for 10m ourselves!

Re: McGuinness

Ten million and I wouldn't swap him for Fish or Lawler, and we've signed Osho to replace one of them!

According to some on here we ended up getting 9 million anyway (7 + 2), seems ridiculous that we would make 2 mill & his actual club that sold him on would only make 1 million on top of their original outlay of 7 mill from the sale price of 10 million.

Did we have the 7million up front or was there add ons including promotion and appearances and stuff? Anyone know?
