Just posed the same question on one of the other threads!
Mon Sep 01, 2025 6:23 pm
Maybe the board have given bbm a budget for the whole season and he needed to choose if he should blow it all now, or just add a few bits of quality and save the majority of the budget for January when we may need to invest a bit more for a final promotion push
That's my line of thinking anyway I'm probably way off lol
Mon Sep 01, 2025 6:26 pm
Depends on what money we payed out on the loans but overall he's been backed if believe bbm....
January maybe a better indicator if bbm needs players to get us over the line
Mon Sep 01, 2025 6:28 pm
14 or 15 out was it? 3 in. It’s debatable whether he’s been backed or not. Don’t know what kind of wages the new guys are on though. Can’t imagine we will be paying a high percentage of Kellymans wages either.
Mon Sep 01, 2025 6:29 pm
It depends what you mean by backed.
In terms of transfer fees, we obviously only spent money on Osho - and I don't think it was a huge fee.
I don't know if we paid a loan fee for Trott and Kellyman.
But on the other hand, I think we're paying Osho good money. Not sure about the wage contributions for the loan players.
The board have also not forced out the likes of Salech, Robertson, Robinson and Rubin - they could have got money for those if they wanted to.
I think, possibly barring a back up LB, BBM has got pretty much what he wanted from this window. He has said from day one that he wanted a small squad and that he'd add a few bits of quality - that's what's happened.
Whether that means he's been backed or not backed, I don't know.
Mon Sep 01, 2025 6:32 pm
I personally dont know what to think , we dont know
1 How much we saved shedding those 15 16 players
2 How much we spent on Osho and 2 loans
3 Were there any deals lined up that Tan wouldnt sanction
Mon Sep 01, 2025 6:32 pm
So the keeper he wanted
An at least championship centre half he wanted
A Chelsea "superkid," he wanted
No one left.
Yes he was backed.
Mon Sep 01, 2025 6:41 pm
We paid more out in transfer fees than we recieved.
1.5m reported for Osho
No idea on the loan fee/wages paid for the other 2
300k for Odowda
We signed a quality goalkeeper in Trott and Osho and Kellyman have the potential to be great signings too.
I'm pleased to see we haven't gone out and taken a risk on injury prone players who are passed their best like we normally do.
Mon Sep 01, 2025 6:48 pm
Where did you get 5m i only saw 1.5
Mon Sep 01, 2025 6:48 pm
No.
Mon Sep 01, 2025 7:29 pm
He wasn't backed, but he knew that when he took the job on
Mon Sep 01, 2025 7:37 pm
No, our manager hasn't been backed and a golden opportunity at promotion has been thrown away by our horrendous owner and idiotic hierarchy.
We are a minimum of 3 players too short. We have a very small squad lacking depth and it's just a matter of time until a few more injuries catch up with us and we plummet down the table.
Mon Sep 01, 2025 7:43 pm
NO
[/b]Of course he Never.[/b]
We got rid of about 17 players
We are going to receive about £2mill for mark Mcguiness

The wage bill is incredible low now.

BBM and his assistant Deserve full praise on doing this virtually with Zero Budget
Mon Sep 01, 2025 7:54 pm
I dont know as much as you know Annis, but we must have saved a shed load on wages with those 15 or 16 out and the majority of those youngsters on low wages.
I really do wonder if Tan pulled the plug in some deals to keep costs down

Etc etc
Many of the current players that have come through Our Accademy are on £900-£1,200 a week
It’s incredible Savings / Beyind Belief
Yes BBM has worked incredibly hard as Tan has limited him in who he can sign.
BBM will thank the Board for their Backing as All Managers publicly do.
Mon Sep 01, 2025 8:09 pm
Do we still have any of the free agents on trial?
Mon Sep 01, 2025 8:19 pm
No I personally don’t think they’ve backed him,the clubs cut the wage bill letting like 17 players go and bringing in 2 outfield players, but I just hope injuries don’t catch up with us with the fixtures we’ve got piling up in September, and people can say the likes of Turnbull and Robertson to come back but they were injury prone last season,I feel like we’re a left back and maybe another striker short,Salech for me is good in the box but doesn’t like the physical side of the game, and Robinson and isak always seem to pick up injuries it’s not me being negative just my take it on it,I’m loving the job BBM doing especially with the younger players in our squad but I just hope we don’t look back and say we should have had more depth to our squad

Murphy wanted a small squad so do we blame him for saying so ?,his take was a small squad he did' nt want players not getting game time sitting on the bench forever and it was no good for cohesion .
Mon Sep 01, 2025 8:34 pm
Worst case scenario allowing for giving up on FA Cup, the FLT and international breaks is we have 16 games to go with this squad until Wycombe on NYD. I think we are ok.
Mon Sep 01, 2025 8:38 pm
I keep on hearing 17 players, in reality, it was two, Callum O'Dowda and Goutas (who wanted to go home)
Rambo can't complete 60 mins, Ralls was getting the same
Meite and ElGarzi

gone at any level
Rinomhota could run, but basic ball control wasn't his strength
Collins,Tsounda and Simic can't be counted as there is some weird stuff there
Reindorf, Evans, Conte and Etete are not L1 or probably L2
Alves, Daland & Harvath and Mannswerk barely matched their pre signing reputations
So thats 3 in and 2 useful ones out

Mon Sep 01, 2025 8:44 pm
Well tan didn't get rid of high value players for the money instead we got rid of players most agree needed to go.....so guess that can be classed as backing bbm? But it's Al about people's perspective but as we know that varies massively depending on subject.
Mon Sep 01, 2025 8:45 pm
From day one, the message has been clear: Salech, our most valuable asset, is not for sale. That alone shows the manager has been properly backed.
It could so easily have been a different story. We might have been looking at replacing Fish, Robertson, Colwill and Salech all in one go. When clubs go down, the vultures from the Championship are always circling, desperate to swoop in and pluck away any talent.
Like everyone I was one of the board’s biggest critics last season apart from the move to a younger squad with Robertson, Fish and Salech. For me, they were solely responsible for our relegation: appointing one manager who was tactically limited and another completely out of his depth.
But credit where it’s due so far this season, with BBM’s support, they’ve got a lot of things right.

Ye I get what you mean mate just thinking I thought he might have wanted one or 2 more especially with the busy schedule coming up and throughout the season

I can’t get my head around some of the comments about replacing the 16 players who left.
We’ve brought in hungry, homegrown talent and we’re all loving watching them play.
BBM has played an absolute blinder. He knew he had to rip up our old style of play and build something completely new. And who’s best suited to that? The young players coming through... adaptable, open-minded, and eager to prove themselves. Not the senior pros who were overpaid and just going through the motions.
That’s why the turnaround has been so quick. BBM isn’t carrying the baggage of previous years, and these young lads are like sponges, desperate to learn.
Mon Sep 01, 2025 9:02 pm
All I will say is So far Well Done BBM with Virtually No budget.
We are seeing attractive, exciting football from Our players including many local players which means so much more

Virtually no budget. OK, so which clubs in League One have a higher budget and wage bill than Cardiff then?

I don’t think people expected 16 players out and 16 players in,but I think people just think we maybe short in areas that’s all
