Positivity

Sun Aug 31, 2025 12:48 am

Being there today, I'm struggling to remember our fans being in a more buoyant mood.

The positivity was coming from so many supporters.

Yes, I know we're a division lower, but the belief from the fans in this team and manager was so pleasing to see.

For the first time in too long, I now look forward to games.

Whatever happens this season, I feel the connection between the fans and players/manager - what I've wanted for such a long time.

Agree, seeing some silly posts on social media though.
"Hand us league now" "HMS Piss the league" etc...

Gonna be a long ass season with a fair few crisis moments to come our way. Beit, injuries, drop in form or just bad fkn luck.

We've signed Osho but still need another couple.
Rubin is carrying us so much with his form and if he falls to injury there isn't really cover for him unless Alex Robinson is gonna be the player ofr us he was for Pompey in this league.

Good news is Salech hasn't hit form yet but still looks menacing to defenders.

either way, excitement is justified.

Great thread.
The positivity is uniting the fans to BBM and the team.

It’s going to be a long season, so hopefullly the supporters will have their back thick and thin.
They’re all developing, look after them …

I was slightly disappointed that we were quiet first half, when they had to battle hard.
Let’s keep supporting.
We have to swap canton end though.
It would be electric

This is what i was saying to my kids on way down to the game , it’s the first time for years that we were looking forward to the game and excited to know that the football will be great to watch , it feels a bit surreal at the moment :bluebird:

I can see why people are saying we are going to piss the league we haven't looked like this (especially at home) since Dave Jones was here, you are right of course, there are bound to be set backs but I'm loving this season

While I think we’ll be fine and I’m extremely optimistic, I do think some people need to keep some perspective. At the moment we’ve played low-level cup sides and three of the bottom four (plus four of the bottom six), so we’ve had a pretty easy start. Things will definitely get tougher once we come up against more of the stronger teams, who’ll try to work us out and stop us.

Also with this positive vibes all around the team and supporters helps the run of the green in our favour , 2 of those goals yesterday were deflections , if that happend the last 4 years ago the ball would of ended up over the bar .
Good feel to this team at the moment :bluebird: :bluebird:

A couple more positive thoughts.
After 6 games the year we won the first promotion to the premier league, we had 13 points.
After 6 games this year we have more points than the 2 clubs together that were relegated with us last season.
Long may it continue. :bluescarf: :bluebird:

We have something about us for sure.

My worry is that the squad depth might not be as much as we need.

Remember the season in championship under DJ when we flew to the top but drifted away. That’s cos we just didn’t have the depth of squad.

We were playing some really good stuff that season as well.

The difference this time is if we were short, you'd expect Barry-Murphy to call up an eighteen year old and turn him into a Championship player within three games.

Also, DJ’s coaching was basically ‘you’re good players, go out and play’ so I’m thinking he struggled to change things if the shiit hit the fan. Can’t see this manager letting that happen.

Bit Harsh on DJ he got a tune out of a bunch of players that never really worked for anyone else.

There was also a bad culture under Jones. Like the players going out on the piss the night before a big game and being allowed to check their horse bets in the dressing room at half time.

Again, this manager wouldn't let that happen.

I do agree that it won't happen under BBM but it's a squad of kids, it puts BBM in a much stronger position with discipline, leaving Turnbull out in the first game was a great statement. Having said all that Chopra, McCormack, Koumas, Bothroyd to name a few, do you really think you can lay the law down on guys like that, it's why they were all playing for us in the first place
