FISH & LAWLOR ,KEEP TOGETHER OR SPLIT?

Sat Aug 30, 2025 5:45 pm

Just wandering with only 1 goal against us would we be foolish to split up the pairing of these 2 defenders to accomodate osho,
or does he have to wait for an injury to one of them.
This reminds me of when we had bamba morrison and bruno manga its a dillema for the manager.

It's a good question.

I'm a great believer in not changing a winning team and for the defence in particular to be as settled as possible which breeds confidence.

However, BBM has already shown when replacing Turner with Trott that he is not afraid to change the team even if the player being replaced has been playing well.

I'm sure Osho has not been brought to the club to warm his arse on the bench so I would expect him to be in the first team sooner rather than later.

If that does happen then whichever of Fish or Lawlor is dropped can feel extremely unlucky.

Unlucky also osho has to gel with either of them fish has been bril and spreading long balls across the park and lawlor confidence in bringing the ball out gas also been bril ,
I think things have to be worked out on the trainning ground.

BBM said after the game that it will be tough for Osho to get in ahead of those two.

Also said that Chambers trained better this week than the two who started, but he decided they were the better choice to play this game.

Osho will be a regular starter at some point but I can't work out which one he'd come in for.

These things tend to sort themselves out, our defensive record is absolutely insane so far, but someone will pick up a knock or we'll ship a few goals

Such a good and interesting question,
This signing has been going on a while now , this partnership at the back is fresh and looking solid hmmm I wonder ?
Also my confidence is growing very quickly in BBM s decision making , I’m still in shock with how he has this team playing and what a great signing this sounds to be Monty boy :bluebird:

Told you we wouldn't get relegated mate :thumbright:

24 points or so to avoid that anyway

You did Ned , I was so dreading this season thinking we were going to be in a relegation battle , I was shocked at how confident you felt about this manager , but you were right :thumbright: , onwards and upwards and feel very optimistic now :bluebird:

Richy

This is an awkward one for the manager fish and lawlor have not put a foot wrong, so difficult to upset the pairing ,
just like bamba and morrison they had a good understanding, i think manga only came in when morrison was injured.
But loving the press from us when we loose the ball to get the ball back and givung the opposition no time to build.

I think it's a simple one.

NG, Chambers & Osho keep Kpakio, Fish, Lawlor & Bagan at their very best.

If and when they get their opportunity they will need to grab it with both hands.

I don't see how you can drop any of our defensive line with the best record in the efl.

If form remains at these levels, then they will have to wait for injuries or suspensions.

Agree about them having to wait even though the newbie co.es with a good reputation, but i don' t want chambers anywhere near the defence good cover for midfield but nit a defender.

For me, you simply can’t break them up when they’re not conceding. If we had the same points but were winning 4-2 every week there would be merit in it. But one conceded in the 5 games that Lawlor and Fish have started together, and that being a penalty is not something you can break up, regardless of who comes in.
