Malaysian tycoon Vincent Tan’s Berjaya Food reported a record net loss, as the operator of U.S. coffee chain Starbucks in Malaysia lost customers amid protests linked to the Gaza conflict.

The company said its net loss widened to 292 million ringgit ($69 million) for the financial year ended June, from 91 million ringgit the previous year, as revenue slumped 64% to 477 million ringgit.

I don’t think this is any big surprise. Tan’s sporting empire took a big hit during and since Covid, and the Starbucks brand is now being boycotted by their customers over the Gaza conflict

Apparently, he (Tan) is now involved in a major telecoms investment, which could see him return to the $billionaire bracket

I don’t overly follow his businesses but he’s certainly had a hard time of it in recent years! :ayatollah:

Having a hard time of it is all relative of course.

Very much doubt he's had to go looking down the back of the sofa for the odd million pounds.

Hes committed to giving his money away to charity when he dies, i don't think money is an issue tbh.

This is what grates with me.

There can be no doubt about VT anthropology. He does positive things for many people - but when it comes to CCFC why is he penny pinching and seeking that extra £20m or so when he could deliver Premier League football to the supporters by agreeing to sell the club?

Either commit to taking the club all the way or allow the club to be sold to someone who will do that.

Just don't deprive the supporters of good times

If one of his buisness Ventures will put him back in billionaire bracket is this why he didn't sell?

If he carries on like he is he might not have any left to give away….wonder if he still makes anything off the macdonalds franchise he was handed years ago? No doubt his kids have all been sorted out long ago anyway.
Maybe he should take that £60 million offer eh?

That’s an honour thing. Also knows if we go up value will be a lot higher.

Question is why should he do anything different? Certainly not for the supporters.

Our value as already gone up with players we have given another year the colwills price go up lawler Salech and more will have values increased All goes towards valuation of club as they're assets.... bet the consortiums are kicking themselves for not offering tan what he wanted.... now tan doesn't have to do sfa he's landed on his feet with bbm and his ability to enhance youngsters to being better? He's spent so little but gained so much... still needs promotion otherwise it will all come tumbling down with massive sale of our talent.

Just to be clear, I still think Tan should sell. Hopefully he gets us promoted and walks away on a high. Taking the emotion away, do people think they should’ve done anything differently this year?

* Took his time appointing BBM, but through an academy-led approach. Right now, it looks like a brilliant call.
* Shifted out the players who didn’t fit the young academy led approach, kept hold of our biggest assets.
* Recruitment team had targets lined up, but when they didn’t fit what BBM wanted, they changed course to back the manager.

Sure, if Ruban or Salech go tomorrow this all looks daft. But compared to the car-crash decisions we’ve seen before, the club actually looks like it’s been run properly this year.

Add in the new signings, with maybe a couple more still to come, and getting Lawlor tied down when his agent and plenty of clubs were sniffing around—that’s a massive win :ayatollah:
