BBM talks about the end of the transfer window

Thu Aug 28, 2025 11:27 am

Brian Barry-Murphy:

"Gabriel Osho is a player I know. But he belongs to Auxerre and for me to say anything now I think would be disrespectful.

I do expect signings before the end of the window.

I think for our supporters, there's been different words used by me like imminent and soon. But because the deadline is a few days away, I can say there's definitely players coming in but I can't say for sure on what day.

Players will leave too but the outgoings don't affect the incomings.

We're not in any real panic and will add quality rather than quantity."

Love that, and in our position that's what he should be doing.

I'm relaxed about the whole situation. We either bring in a few quality players or we bring in nobody.

Rather it like that than signing has beens or players that won't improve us, that's always been my view this summer.

None of us buy our next car before we sell our current car. We need to see if Daland, Chambers or Robinson leave. I guess there are multiple plans based on whether any or all of them leave. Then we hope that the perspective player has signed for someone else.

We have all been waiting for the incomings you have been telling us are coming in for the last month now you say we might no bring in any or you would be happy either way after saying you would not be happy if the 3/4 did not come in bloody he'll lad make your mind up.

That's twisting my words a bit, unintentionally I'm sure.

What I'm saying is I would rather bring in three quality players or miss out completely than bring in three average players that don't improve us.

But the manager said today he expects signings, and I'm sure they'll be at the level so that they can improve us.

I hope people don't write them off like they wrote off Trott, just because he had a lot of loans. Those same people are now praising him.

I still believe we will get 2 more in and if they are the 2 names doing the rounds then along with trott that will be 3 players who should easily be playing at a higher level than league 1 so will definitely strengthen us

Would I like more in, 100% but we know tan is a tight arse but we also know bbm just won't fill the squad with useless players like we had last year so we just wait and see what happens

I trust in bbm have since day 1 and said from the first pre season friendly were gonna see some of the best football we have seen since the dave Jones era and that's proving to be the case,

I think Januarys window could be more important than this one as that's when injuries and suspensions really start to bite

So if we get 2 more quality signings through the door now and a couple more in January I'm still confident of my 4th place pre season prediction

Ned, you are spot on (again)!

There are clearly players on the radar. BBM (or whoever) just needs to get them over the line

I’m with you and BBM on only bringing in players who can improve the team/squad and when/if they do, we supporters need to get on their side rather than finding ways to knock/demean them just because they’re young, unheard of, wear the wrong boots, have ginger hair, or any other daft reason to doubt their ability and/or BBM’s ability to fit them in :ayatollah:

Note: Not aimed at you, Monty

Fair play to him - He is being open and honest - No bold words of next 24 hrs / latest /having medical /done deal ;)
