Uncapped Cardiff City duo named in Wales squad but Rubin Colwill snubbed again
Craig Bellamy has announced his latest squad for the upcoming games with Kazakhstan and Canada

Dylan Lawlor has been called up to the Wales squad once again
Uncapped Cardiff City duo Ronan Kpakio and Dylan Lawlor have once again been called up to Craig Bellamy's Wales squad for the upcoming games with Kazakhstan and Canada.
However, there is still no place in the squad for Bluebirds playmaker Rubin Colwill.
Colwill has been left out of Bellamy's recent squads but his superb start to the season for the Bluebirds led to many expecting a call-up.
Captain Aaron Ramsey doesn't make it, despite receiving his first run out since March for new club Pumas UNAM.

Colwill will be suffering due to the league we are in.
Kpakio and Lawler are there just to get an experience of a national squad gathering.

He is up against tough competition; Wales are weaker at fullback and centre half, Colwill is a brilliant player and will get his chance.

Agreed, he just needs to keep doing what he’s doing…consistently!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is the Burton game being rearranged? Currently I can only see it as active in any lists. With the international players away it normally would trigger postponement in league one, but i can't find any info

So how come Charlie Crew(playing for Doncaster) gets a place in the squad?

I just don't think Bellamy is a fan of the way he plays.
Rubin is a risk in midfield, because Wales are usually playing against stronger sides and he does lose the ball a lot in midfield.
I am a fan of Rubin btw, but I can see why he's left him out.

Better for us if Colwill isn’t in the squad. We need him for Burton game

Crazy rubin hasn't been included and I just hope it doesn't knock his confidence
How Bellamy can think players like Cullen crew and Andrews offer more is unbelievable

I do think Bellamy is not a fan of Rubin, despite publicly stating he likes him???

Very poor decision to not include Rubin.
His game impact is transformed from last season and even as an impact sub offers something different from the others.
RC just needs to keep producing and force his way in.

Rubin hangs on to the ball a bit longer than he should do and sometimes trys a fancy flick when a simple pass sould suffice

I think Rubin has been brilliant this season and is a little unlucky not to be in the squad.
But what I will say is that Bellamy's big thing with him has been the lack of consistency, as a lot of us have also said over the last couple of years.
We've only played five league games but if he continues this form up to October then I'm sure his chance will come.
No suprise that Lawlor and Kpakio are there. Bellamy has always been a big fan of them and they're now playing regularly. Kpakio was in the last squad even though he wasn't playing for our first team.

Rubin is way better than Crew and Sheehan

Strange decision...Charlie crew ahead of Rubin? Really
Thu Aug 28, 2025 10:39 am
It's about players fitting I'm with bellers way of playing.... I'm not sure rubin at moment fits in with his way of playing as like been said Rubin gers tackled a lot in bad areas but sure by end Season things will change.

Does this mean the Burton game goes ahead as planned now?

Has to be 3 or more players called up It can include u21 players but only if they have been a significant part of the first team. So if we have a u21 international I am sure Ashford and Colwill will be called up
Thu Aug 28, 2025 10:58 am
Think I read somewhere we’ve got till 5pm Sunday to decide if we want to call it off
Thu Aug 28, 2025 10:58 am
Just wondering why Charlie Savage has dropped off Bellamy’s radar?
Loss of form?
When I saw him play for Wales before I thought that he was really effective in midfield.
Maybe just lost his way a bit as you can’t just loose it, can you ?
Is he still at reading?

Rubin is unlikely to play a lot for Wales as he's up against Harry Wilson, daft decision not to have him in the squad though how much more can you ask him to do

When is the u21 announcement?

I'd imagine Giles and Manfico could also be in contention.

Just like Kpakuo and Lawlwer, Charlie Crew will be in the squad to get a feel for the surroundings
Rubin has had that so woyld only be called up if he was a definite for a start or the bench.

I do feel with Rubin that Bellamy seems to find reasons not to include him and that is likely to continue.
Crew, Harris, Cullen, Sheehan, Andrews are just 5 that he could replace and nobody would question it.
I feel Rubin is forever going to have to be at his best week in week out to justify his place in a squad that he should walk in to as a squad player whilst others can have a dip for a period and still get selected.
I like Bellamy but his reasons for not picking him are not consistent with other members of the squad that are selected ahead of him.

Watch him play, bit of a headless chicken at times.
