This really is good news!
Dylan Lawlor has made a great start to the season and it shows BBM is taking us in the right direction player-wise!

Forget the transfer window signings this is the biggest signing of the summer. Lawlor is a generational talent. Best centre half we have produced since Gabidon. He has the potential to go all the way to the top. Premier league clubs will circle him in the future.

Great news!
Right decision by the club, hopefully he's with us for a long time

Agree with your sentiments but we didn't actually produce Gabbidon, we paid WBA about half a million for him when Hamman was splashing the cash. His "other half " James Collins came through the youth system although ironically he was a free scoring centre forward at youth level. Think he was only bought in to centre half when we had an injury early season the first year back in the Championship and never looked back.

Id forgotten that. Good memory! Collins was decent too. Lawlor can each easily achieve what they did.

Signing of the summer this. What's his value currently never mind future potential
There would have been a few knocks on his door come Jan so amazing the club have agreed terms

This is good news, his next contract will be as captain in the premier league.

Great news….
Also pleasing is the fact that its BBM in the picture of the signing and not Choo as he has done in the past.

It's being suggested that BBM was a big reason why Lawlor decided to stay.
With the clubs interested, he may have left otherwise.

As I said above, BBM is taking us in the right direction and the players are very happy (with the odd exception)

Any chance he could still leave?
The club have protected their asset with the contract, could be some clauses in there that, if met, could still see him leave.

Doubt anyone significant will leave this window.
But if he continues his progress then I'm sure big clubs will come in at some point. But for a big fee.
Essential we didn't lose him for nothing, would have been a disaster.

Looks decent so far and will only get better I'm sure as he's getting older while he matures and playing weekly but I'll wait till we play the better teams in this League who will pressure us from the off then I'll judge if he's the next Maldini after only one handful of games like some

West Ham got him for a bargain given he played almost 300 Premier League games. He was sold as part of the Gabbidon deal. Its great we have tied Lawlor to a three year deal as by the time his contract is up if he is as good as we hope, we will either have sold him for a decent sum, get good compensation for him if he leaves at the end as he will be still be under age or hopefully be in the Premier ourselves!! (you can always hope) .

To be fair, I don't think any of us are saying he is the finished article. Really struggled against Peterborough and probably would have been sent off if he wasn't subbed. But he did learn from that.
His massive potential is clear to see. CBs don't normally peak until mid to late 20s at the earliest.
I think he'll compete with Fish to be in the team alongside Osho.

People complaining about it not being done in a timeframe suitable to them are really making my piss boil today, FFS. It takes as long as it takes for all involved to be happy.
It's a case of not letting good news get in the way of complaining about anything.
