The draw will take place following the Grimsby Town v Manchester United match in the Second Round on Wednesday, it will be shown live on Sky Sports.
The Third Round draw will not be regionalised but because this is the round where Premier League clubs in European competitions enter the Carabao Cup, the draw is a little more complicated.
Due to Champions League matches and Europa League matches taking place around the same dates as the Carabao Cup Third Round, teams in those competitions can not be drawn against each other.
Therefore, there will be a pre-draw to decide whether the eight teams in those competitions will be at home or away.
There will also be two different pots.
The first pot will contain those eight clubs and the second pot will contain the other 24 clubs.
For the main draw, the first eight-ties will be drawn by alternating between one Club from Bowl 1 and one Club from Bowl 2, with the Home/Away positioning of the UCL/UEL team already pre-determined in the earlier draw.
Once the first eight ties featuring the UCL/UEL teams have been drawn, the remaining eight ties will then be drawn from Bowl 2 only.
Ball numbers will be confirmed on Wednesday morning.
The Third Round will take place across two separate weeks - week commencing 15th September and week commencing 22nd September.
Thank you for explaining a complex draw, so simply.

Funnily enough, I think the exact opposite.
We're doing well and could do without the drama of a game against one of them two.
One thing I was glad about this season was not playing them, especially Swansea because we've played a lot recently and a game against them could easily be a distraction we don't need.
We'll end up with whatever we get drawn though and I'll just have to accept it if it's one of them.

Wigan (A) would suit me.
Could walk to the match

The simulated draw drew us against Manchester City at Home. I really don't want Wrexham or the Jacks.

Everton away is my wish if they win tonight.

Five of the Champions League/Europa League teams will be away in their Carabao Cup tie.
The other three will be at home.
The pre-draw just took place and that's all we know until the main draw, which is after Grimsby Town v Manchester United.

It'll be midweek, Carabao Cup always is except for final.
Really grim draw, about as bad as it could be.

It could be a good chance to test ourselves against a buoyant club. Burnley are a side who can be beaten in their day and we should go there with no fear

I agree, a long midweek trip to a grim part of the country. At least Hovarth won't be in goal!

I actually thought it was a pretty decent draw tbh.
My thinking is Burnley will be focused on Premier League survival so don't see them taking the cups that seriously, but they are still favourites to win as there are two leagues between us.
We can go up there, play without expectation and if we get a result momentum gets an even bigger boost. If we lose its not going to dent any current momentum in the league because expectations are lowered playing a Prem side away so we just get back on with the main aim of the promotion back to the Championship.
