What BBM has done has been nothing short of spectacular

Sun Aug 24, 2025 3:48 pm

To take over a side that finished bottom, sell 14 players and bring only one in on loan and get them playing as we are is miraculous.

Then to get us top of the league with a club that has no management structure above him and do this mainly with homegrown talent is phenomenal.

We’re very lucky to have him in my view.

Put like that its hard to disagree. The big question is will we be able to keep him when the inevitable managerial merry go round begins before too long. I hope so…

That’s my fear.

If he continues to do well he’ll be a target for lots of clubs.

I’d imagine there’ll be quite a few chairmen who would like a manager that can get all their high earners off the payroll, play all their young kids and still get them top of the table

I liked him ever since his first interview. Just had a good feeling.

A lot is made of the amount of players that have left but apart from O'Dowda, who wanted to leave, I'm not bothered about the rest who have gone. You could make a case for Ralls but it was the manager's choice to let him go and I don't see a place for him in this team anyway.

It's been a very good start but I should stress that it's just a good start.

While I believe we will have a great season, should be pointed out that there are 41 games to go.

I'm sure the manager isn't thinking further ahead than Cheltenham and Plymouth.

The real test will come when we lose a game and how we react to that. Because we obviously will lose at some point.

So a very good start and I believe we will have a great season, but there is such a long way to go :thumbright:

Totally agree that there’s a long way to go.

But I think what he’s done already is mightily impressive.

I have to agree.

Riza would have had us bottom 4 by now.

It is, but some were saying we'd be in a relegation scrap again before this season started.

It is league 1, and if we’d have done as Birmingham did and thrown big money around we’d expect to be up there.

We’ve done completely the opposite so credit where credit’s due, the man has done a phenomenal job so far

BBM - Had a plan - Used that plan and to this point the results show - He has got it right

It would be interesting to see (maybe next season) hypothetically speaking how this team would have faired in last seasons championship. It looked like all the big earners like Ramsey, el ghazi, the useless guy from Berlin (forget his name already lol) and a few others we offloaded just let us down and held us back. Probably wasn’t the time to bed in all the younger ones but I guess if you don’t try you’ll never know. Fundamentally, the most important thing is the manager, we haven’t had a proper one since Warnock and he was 70! Looks like we might have one after all these years….we shall see…. :bluescarf:

He probably realizes we don’t need big money thrown at it yet, a decent loan or two with players who know what it takes in this league will help no end I’m sure….

The start must be devastating for the naysayers and gloom merchants. Enjoying this doesn't mean pro regime. :old:

Through all the social media tittle tattle of the manager recruitment, they gave BBM a long deal, so there must have been some conviction. Now it's the time to back him big. He is in credit. Rubin looks like the player of the wild valuations and the keeper is very very good; most of the academy lads look at least L1 when that was never the case last year.

I believe we need at least 4 in without anyone leaving, more if anyone does. The untried academy kids can be blended into the trophy games, but any more than that is going to the well too often.

He's 1 dubious penalty from being perfect, at the time of writing

No and its why I'm not getting carried away.

I've watch a number of the league one teams already, trying to catch up on my knowledge of them. I've seen nothing so far to be scared off. The only thing I'm weary off is us getting bullied by the opposition which for me is the only way they are going to get anything out of us. If we play the pressing forward skillful game like BBM is drilling into us we will be fine. Number one proirity to avoid relegation will soon be achieved.

Sell 14 players? We wish!

However, you are 100% correct that BBM has done exceptionally well with what he had left plus a loan (to date) keeper!

What it says to me (all the Tan stuff apart) is that BBM is the perfect coach for an exceptionally talented group of young players; many of whom (but not all) were underrated or untrusted by our previous managers, and most of our support

So far, so good, and the signs are as positive as they come at the moment! :ayatollah:

Fair play to BBM he’s giving the youngsters game time and they’re performing for him too and the style of football is a lot more pleasing on the eye. The fact he constantly says after games there will be mistakes at times gives them confidence to stick to the way he wants them to play. Long may it continue.
The lack of transfers has no doubt forced his hand at times so far to play so many youngsters, hopefully he gets a few more in through the door who buy into his style and philosophy and hit the ground running.
