Q. Salech or Robinson must be a dilemma in your head. Do you see them playing together, even if it meant Robinson on the wing?
BBM:
My job is to pick the best team for each game. If they are both in that then I have to find a way to play both of them.
I don't really see Robinson as a winger because he's so good in central areas and his combination play is so helpful to the rest of the team.
He's really done everything he can do to get in the team. So the relationship between player and coach, the players have to do everything they can to show they will do well in the team and then I have to find a way to get them in the team.
So he's done his bit, I haven't done my bit yet.
The young players all look up to him. He came into pre-season a bit later than the others because he had surgery but he's been brilliant in training.
I'm very conscious of giving him minutes but also conscious of picking the team that can play significant minutes to win the game."

I've always been a Robinson backer and that's great to hear.
All this rubbish about him being a bad influence I've never bought into and if BBM is saying the younger lads look up to him I believe him as he has been ruthless with players not being professional so far.
For me he is still the best finisher at the club and will have a big part to play for us as the season goes on.

So in other words ......no, it's not going to happen.

To be honest, part of the question given restricts the answer BBM can give. Why talk about CR47 playing on the wing FFS!? That assumes BBM's arse is wedded to a lone striker system.
My question to the manager would've been: have you considered playing a big man, little man combo up top? Maybe a 442 in old skool language?
We're in League 1, the perfect division to try a change in tactics/ formation.

Goes against everything he’s done with tactics and training.
We are playing great football aand all of a sudden you want old school football?
Haven’t we had an enough of mangers playing old fashioned football?

I think the first time we are trailing a game going into the last 15 minutes I could see bbm abandoning the 6 role and going 2 up to so I'm sure we will see them both on the field together at some stage

442 is NOT old skool in any shape or form. It's a classic formation which still operates perfectly well today.
Here's a question for you: do you think Salech would enjoy the idea of having another striker up there with him to give opposition defenders less time on the ball and give him more space?
I think we know the answer. Football is about flexibility along with creating numerous shots on target. Against Wimbledon we had 2 on target!
If you've a manager wedded to 1 striker in every match, you can see how that has turned out over the past 3 seasons - not great was it!?

Who plays 442?

I'd certainly consider him as a replacement if either Rubin got injured or substituted.
I think he could fit in well around or just behind Salech.
However, unless we sign another central striker before the window closes, I think we are better off holding one of Salech or Robinson on the bench, the way we have been.

I think the injuries have caught up with him. He used to be a hardworking forward, never prolific, nor would he leave a foot in, but would close down. He seems well off the pace, and I was expecting a hell of a lot more yesterday if he had any idea of one more championship contract.
I would give Davies a go on Tuesday to see if he can be the Salech alternative, but he has the durability of a chocolate teapot.
IMO we need a striker to back up/challenge Salech. I thought Robbo was showing signs of Rambo/Ralls yesterday, its not intent, just the body can't do what the brain is telling it.
