Is Tanner a left winger or a right winger?

Question: Is Tanner a left winger or a right winger?

Brian Barry-Murphy:

Can I say both?

He's obviously left footed and mostly played on the right.

But if we want to play in a certain way, especially against a back five, and put in a lot of crosses then I think it's beneficial to play on your stronger foot.

He was strong against Peterborough but I'm conscious of the fact that against a back five it benefits us to have a right footer on the right and a left footer on the left as Cian Ashford was.

Well Ashford plays much better on the right wing than the left. Therefore Tanner should play on the left if they both play in the team together.

I agree, both good players and they can switch and cause a bit of chaos for the odd ten minutes then switch again to catch out our oppontents.

Ashford could be a key player for us this season. He's a right handful, and improving week by week.

What i like about BBM is he is trying to take us with him. I was brought up on 442 big man/little man, then learned to understand 4231, but prefer 433.

I hate Pepball or its variants, I find it boring, but I need to understand the how and why if that's what I am going to watch over the next few seasons. So it now makes sense some of his wide selections and choices, it depends on whether the opposition play a 4 or 5. :thumbright:

I played left wing as a kid as I was a leftie and it's more natural to go on the outside rather than cutting in to whip a cross in,
You also have the strength in your favoured foot and more accuracy.

I'm a leftie but played CF. I loved the cross from the left. The right wing cross I was all over the place.

Funny if I headed a ball i preferred it on the left side of my head crosses from the right, i am left footed left handed also, but I support reform ,so that balances it up a bit. Ha.

Never normally see Tanner close up from 117.
I thought he was really good.

He took those cross field balls on his right and transferred left, was building up
A little system with mafico too in first half.

That left option deffo can stretch out a back 5. Good vision by BBM.

Decent wingers in the modern game should be capable of switching between left & right .

I was a centre forward, right footed but preferred crosses from the right (heading on left side of the head).
