Wrexham interested in Cardiff City’s Calum Chambers

The Wrexham Insider’s chief transfer expert, Graeme Bailey, has now told us that Wrexham are interested in signing Calum Chambers from Cardiff City.

Would it happen with him being club captain I don’t know?

If he was moved upto cdm again he would start every game, we know how good he is in that role.

He got exposed at CB last year, and has been exposed at CB this year.

It feels like his years of being a cover player at Arsenal and Villa stunted his development as either a CB or a CDM - he just isn't consistent enough of a player to guarantee a place in the starting XI. I don't dislike him, but he worries me at CB, and he's not fluid enough at CDM - I'd be happy for him to take one final pay day at Wrexham.

Some might say, fairly, that they wouldn't mind if he goes because of his performances at CB.

But he did a decent job in CM and if he gets moved back there, he'll be an asset in that position.

Would also not be great to lose him given he's just been made captain.

I think at cdm he was a better player.

Also voted club captain by our players, would be a bit of a setback selling him for them. They clearly look upto him.

I would imagine that Chambers is one of the highest earners left at the club in which case I would imagine Tan would be delighted to see him off the wage bill.

BBM will then be told to find a replacement from the youth team.

Wouldn't want to lose Chambers as well as all the rest we've lost.

Play in CDM and he will be a class above this league.

Do Wrexham scout players?
Looks like they are diving in everywhere.

I think he's far far too immobile to play in midfield, he's part of the reason we were constantly overrun last season. There's a reason Ramsay immediately moved him back to CB and he's stayed there since.

If we get a quality centre back in I think chambers should be moved into central Midfield where he did really well last season

If we're planning to use him as a defender - let him go.

He was a career right back at Arsenal then did well in CDM. Then horrible for us at CB and moved into CDM and was one of the better performers last year; which relative to standard was still poor.

If we're going to put him where Wintle currently is - keep.

Totally agree with this, spot on

I'd be surprised if this happened as we named him captain, which almost means an automatic selection in our match day team, if fit.
Yes, he's not a centre back who gives us too much reassurance, but I still think it would be a kick in the teeth to Cardiff for a player we have named as captain to prefer a move to Wrexham rather than battle to help to get us promotion!

Have you thought daaland wants out? And so we are short of numbers at cb which is why he has been playing him there? Or is your tunnel vision stuttering you and just want to jump on the band wagon let's knock BBM

Chambers is one of the best players to put on a Cardiff shirt, he would be brilliant for Wrexham, if they sign alone they will be going to the premiership that's a certain.
