Could the heat have an impact on Saturday's game?

Wed Aug 13, 2025 11:24 pm

Forecast to be about 27c on Saturday when the game is on, players in the UK are obviously not used to playing league games in temperatures like that.

Obviously it will be the same for both teams, so we can't use it as an excuse if we don't win.

But given that we like to play a high press and the style we play, the reduced fitness levels because of the heat could impact that.

Just a random thought I had.

It's the rain that effects rotherham, not the sun.

To be fair Annis, I did say in my original post that it would be the same for both clubs.

Clubs in Spain much more used to the heat than in the UK.

I was impressed by the high press against Peterborough but it seems to have been used much less in the games against Port Vale and Swindon.

Also when we do get the ball back we do not break at any great speed, tending to look to retain possession and build up slowly.

We desperately need some real pace in the side and a need to get the ball forward more quickly - not "lumping" it or going Route 1 but attacking as a unit with pace.

As for the weather on Saturday - I guess they'll have a couple of drink breaks like they did on Tuesday night.

There were two drink breaks Tuesday, being in the stands was so uncomfortable. Felt for the Swindon lot the sun was on them for a bit.
