" Nice to be back to winning ways "

CARDIFF CITY 2-1 SWINDON TOWN

Great to be back to winning ways and a decent performance in the first half tonight.

Not going to go OTT because we played close to our first team and were up against a League Two team. Cup games are always a bit different too.

But I liked the way we moved the ball and were switching play effectively.

We dominated the ball and looked in control.

Second half it changed.

There were a few shaky moments at the back after Swindon scored, having been in control until then. Chambers and Wintle really struggled.

But we came through that and got the win.

A good evening for BBM, getting a win and getting through is what matters.

Ashford got the first goal after a brilliant corner by Davies saw Bagan have a header saved and Ashford got the rebound.

Brilliant second goal with another Rubin Colwill free kick.

Swindon got a goal back early in the second half, poor defending by Chambers.

I thought Isaak Davies and David Turnbull played well. Both were looking to always get forward.

Turnbull my MOTM

Into the hat for the second round.

Rotherham next on Saturday :bluebird:

Totally agree

Everyone will focus on the negatives no doubt. The back four, especially Chambers were suspect. When they pressed us we were all over the place. But I saw lots of good football tonight. Davies and Ashford very encouraging out wide. Corners and delivery into the box was much better. Colwills free kick was sublime. Into round two.

For the negative only folks as it's deemed this anyway. It was pathetic Ned at times for me Vs some bottom end to lower half div 2 team. I mean come on bar some back four back passing that gives everyone a heat attack more or less or get to there corner flag area then pass it back and back again to the goalkeeper that's all we done at times. nothing excited me tbh tonight. I expected to keep the ball Vs them as we are a higher level but if that's a sign of things to come we are going nowhere although I don't expect much this season anyway in truth as I'm not delusional when I see the squad names and manager but tonight I expected much much better Vs Swindon that's for sure.

Ditch the tippy tappy man city game plan we need to and start turning and going forward with the ball although some of the ball distribution was awful at best from some players tonight at times

Thought we were OK going forward bit ropey at the back chambers just gets beat to easily

And yet we should have scored 5 or 6 we had that many chances

Still unbeaten under bbm though and into the hat for round 2 roll on saturday

Ashford willock and Davies are not wingers because wingers are suppose to put crosses into the centre not keep passing back to midfield or defenders

You can't say that as it's deemed negative although most know it's factual but choose to bury there heads in the sand.

No dig at anyone. Although we are unbeaten this season is factual also, because we aren’t scoring four or 5 goals people choose to criticise the team.

Davies and Ashford played well tonight.

Davies delivery from corners was very good. Ashford is far better on the right he's a direct runner. Both should keep their places for Saturday.

The major issue is the entire defence.

All of our Centre backs are weak and buckle as soon as the opposition gets on top.

Kpakio and Bagan are decent back up options but shouldn't be first choice both have a mistake in them.

LB and LCB are priority now before the end of the window.

Its very important to get wins by any means possible at the start of the season
More competitive minutes for our young players
Quite a few championship teams went out tonight, so happy we in the next round

I said the other night - Can't understand why we did not try and get Alves back here on loan from Leicester .
The same Club where BBM has come from to manage our Club - Alves must/might have a part to play there this season ??
