CITY MISSED OUT ON HUGE SIGNING!!

Mon Aug 11, 2025 11:58 am

Back in 2017 Neil Warnock and his scouts watched a young OLLIE WATKINS playing for Exeter City.Watkins was playing on the wing for Exeter but Warnock saw him as a striker.

Exeter wanted £2m for him and Warnock pleaded with Tan and Dalman to back the move.Guess what!

Tan and Dalman refused and they signed Danny Ward instead.Brentford signed him weeks later for £2m and then sold him a few years later for £30m.Warnock phoned Dalman and told him to remind Vincent Tan what he was sold for.Watkins now an England international.(WELL DONE TAN AND DALMAN.YOU KNOW f**k ALL ABOUT FOOTBALL). :bluebird:

I didn't know this, but I just looked it up and Walesonline posted this back in 2020. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/foo ... l-19252742

Yet another cock up by our transfer committee. Our next owner doesn't have to be filthy rich, we just need someone who understands football and can make far better decisions.

Not sure there was a transfer committee at the time. Warnock had quite a bit of free rein with transfers.

Jamie Vardy too

Can you imagine the side we would have had with Vardy and Watkins.

To be fair Atlético Baleares fan after some of the signings made my Malky we needed to change something.

We have signed some right shockers though. None as bad as Cornelius mind although Vassell comes close.

Warnock's stories get better with time.....

Missed the episode where he convinced Tan and Dalman that breaking our record on Josh Murphy or £5 mill on the goal machine Gary Madine were great ideas, or the time he let Whitts go to be replaced by an even slower and far more limited Marlon Pack; or the realisation that Flint and Morrison were two sides of the same coin.

He also missed Van Dyke in another episode.

I love him and forever grateful, but the stories get a little better each time.
