Referee rating - marks out of ten

Thu Aug 07, 2025 9:03 pm

I thought he was even worse than Saturday's.

But this time, the decisions went in our favour.

His assistant ruled out a Port Vale goal which was clearly onside.

Gave us some decisions that I doubted and Bagan could easily have been sent off.

I gave him a 10 with out him we would have been buried. MOM performance.

Awful for both teams.

On one hand, let every pull and push by them go.

On the other hand, disallowed a perfectly fine goal by vale.

Trott stopped playing for their ‘disallowed’ goal, so we can’t be sure he wouldn’t have saved it. Equally, I’m not sure a red card for Bagan would have been fair. He clearly hit the ball first and his foot ran over the ball and on to the Port Vale player, whose teammates made a drama out of it (as seems the modern way)

We need to get used to a lower standard of referee this season. We are in the lower half of the EFL and this is what we’ll get, so the best we can hope for is a ‘balancing out’ of decisions :ayatollah:
