INTERESTING: NATHAN BLAKE ON ‘TAKEOVERGATE’

Speculation about a club takeover fronted by homegrown superstar Gareth Bale has been rife all summer but, as yet, has gone nowhere.

Blake: “There’s been a cloud over the club under this ownership.”


Blake believes there is substance to Bale’s plans – and that a change in ownership is desperately needed.



“The whole cycle of Cardiff City is just a whirlwind. I can’t predict what will happen this season.”



He added: “Do you honestly think ‘Superman’ (Bale) would put his neck on the block, come out and say what he has said publicly, without having proof of funds?

“Think about that, Gareth Bale, arguably Wales’ greatest ever player. Is he really going to stand at the front of a consortium and say things that aren’t true?”

Any concrete progress would be welcome, Blake insists.

“After the first two or three seasons (of the current regime) I just think it’s all been a bit of a nightmare," he added.

“There’s been a cloud over the club under this ownership.

“Once you start to change colours, badges…you’ve dishonoured the club basically, turned your fans against you.

“There is this culture in the club which I said was there two or three years ago.

“I said then they were going to go down, that it was on its way.

“If you have players who can’t fight, who don’t want to fight, and you keep changing your manager…..

“The whole cycle of Cardiff City is just a whirlwind. I can’t predict what will happen this season.”

Bale was never a man for the media, so to come out as aggressively as they did showed their intent. You don’t make those comments randomly.

I do believe it was a ploy to bring the club both to the table and the price down, through expected fan pressure. He probably went a bit early with the summer break and it’s calmed down now.

Dalman did his usual rounds to try and dampen any expectations and it seems to have worked. I would assume unless it’s made more hostile for the board and owner, they’ll just hang on, frustratingly.

Because he and his Muppet Keith originally denied Bales Bid until Bake went public.

They only announced on Saturday morning that Tan had also accepted another bid in the last 2yrs and changed his mind.

Also Dalman started off his speech with No offers have come in, then got caught out during questions and admitted their was a serious bid but refused to say their names.

It’s Boris Johnson all over.

Plus if you really are following Cardiff you will know Dalman aka Boris has been a bullshitter year after after and you who never agrees with me can at least agree with me on this.


Plus Chris / Sven has also spoken to others who knew all about the South African.

Paul, it is all incredibly strange, and as you say, Bale would not have spoken without substance

I think most of us would be comfortable with being straight when asked a direct question, but our political Chairman has ‘form’ for being economical with his words, and on this occasion, he has given two differing responses to the same question set in the same meeting

What I have concluded about Mehmet, and I can appreciate it in some areas, is that he is self-interested and feels he has to keep everything ‘secret’ in case anyone grabs a steal on him. We need to remember, he has put a considerable sum into our club and despite reported falling out, he has to keep the underwriter of said investment ‘sweet’ or suffer the ignominy of having to go ‘whistle’ for any return

To be fair, he’s not the only one ‘closing ranks’ to protect their ‘interests’ in the club. Keith Morgan appears to be one, and there are others even closer to the ship’s Master

Re the South African bidders, I’m not sure what NDA’s might have been agreed/signed, but these things have a habit of coming out eventually; just like he said there was ‘no one interested in buying the club’ before later saying ‘we had a deal agreed last year but Vincent changed his mind’

Definitely not claiming to be in the know, but doesn’t it all boil down to this:

For an investor, we’re a brilliant opportunity. The club is currently at its lowest value, being in League One, but has an exciting group of young players who could be worth millions in the future.

For the owners, they have to weigh up their continued investment/losses against the same future value any potential investor would see.

So, as far as I can tell, unless Tan is desperate to sell in order to reinvest that money into another one of his businesses, or a silly offer comes in that’s too good to turn down, there’s no real reason to accept the hundreds of millions already lost and, more importantly, to accept that he’s been unsuccessful. Culturally it doesn't look good to be a failure and it wouldn't suprise me if that also influences his decision to try and sell on the back of a promotion.

There's no guarantee of that promotion and no doubt the club will be worth far less if we don't achive this.

I’m sure there are different opinions on this, but that’s the way I see it.

Dalman is obviously lying not discussed at board level, what a load of shit .

Dalman saying that no bids or approaches have been discussed at "board level" is pure nonsense. Does he actually believe that we accept that the Bale bid wasn't talked about by the directors? Absolute BS.

Notwithstanding the performance of the youngsters on Saturday, what Blakey said was important on this specific topic!

I know that Blake is starting a new podcast with Rob Phillips (who I do think is a good reporter) so I assume he will use that avenue to discuss our talented young players.

It's a non-BBC podcast as Rob has left his job working full time for BBC Wales, although he will continue to cover for other people there on a part time basis, a huge loss to BBC Wales in my opinion.


Back to the point of the thread. Like I said, there was no reason for Bale to lie and nobody really believes he was lying - I was against him buying us but he was clearly telling the truth.

It will be proven in the future that everything that was said on here was 100% true.

Trouble I have with him is his answers no matter what the questions are he goes back to type with pop at club... he hates praising city always as done !
Ps he's a lousy commentator/summerisor and can't stand him no matter what people say.... Call Rob I turn off if he's on it ......as like this interview he states the bleeding obvious everytime
