Exactly what I wanted and expected to see with this manager.
We never stopped attacking, even at 2-1 up.
One or two shaky moments in defence but nothing more than that, other than the dodgy penalty they got.
Players running.
Good passing.
Two brilliant goals.
A great press.
Brilliant atmosphere in Canton.
Fantastic start and we'll just get better.

Should've won by more they were dreadful but really good start.
Thought Wintle was outstanding maybe this is his level. Two worldies defence needs a bit of work but we will win our first four like I said.

Chambers will help the defence for sure..great energy

A great display today.
The press and winning back the ball was excellent.
Passing was quick.
Always looking to play forward.
Was like day & night compared with last season.
Both goals from former academy players.
And still there’s the odd idiot on the match day thread saying we’re shit!
Sat Aug 02, 2025 1:39 pm
Also a mention for Turner on debut two big saves.
Sat Aug 02, 2025 1:42 pm
A wins a win. And it’s early days didn’t look much different to last season we’re lucky to hold on to the 3 points in the end, but we did which is something we didn’t do last year. Keeper made some great saves to keep us in front. We lucky not to have been down to 10 men think the penalty award saved us there. Think Colwill found his level, some excellent moments but still a lot of mistakes and bad decisions in my view but he will get away with them more often at this level.
How good a measure Peterborough are I don’t know a lot believe they be down the botttom and they caused some serious problems. Hopefully the boss learnt a lot from this outing.
I’d give them a 5/10.
A wins a win and hopefully will improve week on week.
Sat Aug 02, 2025 1:43 pm
I thought Turner and the Colwill brothers were excellent. Defensively we need tightening up, bringing of Lawlor off was the right move as it wasn’t quite going right for him.
Sat Aug 02, 2025 2:06 pm
It was not the most convincing win and performances. However, winning teams always find a way even when they don’t necessarily play there best. So, hopefully this is us this season and we just have winning mentality to push us up the table no matter what.
Performance wise today while not everyone might of preform to their best technically. Everyone was committed to the cause and constantly were pressing the Peterborough players and cause them to make mistakes. Previous years we have never been this aggressive. We always been the one to close shop and soak up pressure, not today we kept on to them even when we were 2-1. I know it’s early days but to me it looks promising.
Sat Aug 02, 2025 2:11 pm
Found it funny that they were blaming the keeper for both out goals over on the posh forum while we were calling them great goals.
Sat Aug 02, 2025 2:18 pm
I disagree with those who say it wasn't a great performance. We were the dominant team and deserved to win.
Stats back that up.
Sat Aug 02, 2025 2:23 pm
The willingness and desire to win the ball back was a massive difference compared to last season.
Fantastic to see such a young team too.
Sat Aug 02, 2025 2:31 pm
Very good, generally dominant performance which could have ended up 2-2 had it not been for a couple of first class saves by young Turner in goal.
I thought both Colwill brothers were very good with Rubin outstanding. But what a fabulous performance by 18 year old Kpakio. Just the odd error or two late on, but what a prospect.
The defence can expect far sterner tests than that in the coming weeks.
Overall, the expected result against one of the weaker teams in the league, but a good start.

People look at stats in different ways. All that domination in the stats just to hold on for 2-1 in the end shows we unable to convert chances. Which is why I pay little attention to stats either way we won which is what counts and don’t think we at our best 5/10 is give us. Lots to be improved on.

You're right about missed chances, could have scored a couple more. I was surprised Robinson put his chance wide and Salech's header in the first half goes in if it's either side of the keeper.
If I could pick out a negative then it would be Ashford, struggled at times with his ball control.

I would argue that it’s not a bad performance by any stretch or imagination. However, it wasn’t perfect there were a few incidents which could have cost us. But then again I’m not expecting us to roll over teams. We just need that winning mentality. Where we win regardless of our performance. It’s definitely showing promising signs and I’m more excited by this team than I originally thought I’d be.

Agree it wasn't perfect, first game of the season is always a test to see if the team can compete. I think today showed we can.
I expect improvement as the weeks go on but it's a very promising start, especially with such a young team.
Sat Aug 02, 2025 3:12 pm
I've said all along this team need time to cook, a lot of these young lads are only at the beginning of there journeys
I thought they showed a lot of character today, 1-0 down in front of a big expectant crowd they could of gone in to there shells but they rolled up there sleeves and turned the game around
Give this team a dozen games and they will start battering teams
We struck gold with bbm I honestly think he will do great things with this club we just need to be patient and give him time
A great season awaits us in my opinion
Sat Aug 02, 2025 4:01 pm
A dominant win that should have been 4ish.
We'll give some of this division a hammering this year.

I agree, people who can’t see the difference in todays performance and last seasons can’t know anything about football.
Yes it wasn’t perfect by far.
Defence still looked wobbly.
But for the first time in a few years I see we have a clear plan and a system of play.

Lawlor was outstanding problem was he was on a yellow and seemed so committed to winning the ball/ game probably right to take him off
I’d give them a 5/10.

Two things I thought could be improved 1st... must put ball in middle more often seemed very reluctant to do so even with 3 or more players in there when we did it usually ended up with a chance... for some reason happy to put 50yrd balls across field which was good but not crosses... 2nd whilst didn't drop back later in game we slowed game right down more passing across back which only encouraged them to attack us
Causing unnecessary pressure.. from which they could have scored...

Highest attendance of the day, narrowly beating Bradford.
Well done, all
Few more wins and there'll be 20k+, which is huge for this league. Most are sat around 10k.

For the first game, under a new coach, I thought it was extremely positive. You could see the style of play and the work in the training ground coming to fruition, but there is still lots to work on and that’ll come with time.
They pressed really well, they won the ball back high and put Peterborough under pressure in the right places. Yes we missed chances, but we’ll get sharper and they’ll learn to understand eachother better as the season progresses.
If that’s game one, I’m looking forward to seeing where we finish at the end of the season
Sat Aug 02, 2025 10:11 pm
I agree.
Maybe overplayed at times, certainly in the first half and could have got shots off earlier, but the style of play is a lot more pleasing on the eye.
Do think the centre halves need to distribute a bit quicker, a couple of passes were intercepted and against better opposition we could have been punished.
Tired legs at the end because of the constant press, but fitness will improve with games.
Very positive start, and excited by the style of play BBM has introduced.
