We lost 5-1 at home to Derby during the first few weeks which was a real shock. My first away game was the game with Derby at the Baseball Ground in the February that season and we got our revenge by winning 4-3. It was Brian Clarke's first game for us and he bagged a couple (legend). That season we had the heartbreak of losing to Hamburg in the semi final of the cup winners cup.
Being Grangetown born and bred, city have been in my blood ever since although ill health means I don't go to as many games as I'd like to now, so I'm grateful that we're on TV as much as we are. Doesn't matter how old you are there's not a lot of better feelings than when the ball hits the back of the net for city.
Anyway, happy new season everyone and it doesn't matter what division we're in, they are our team and we live in eternal hope,![]()
