New season, fresh hope.

Fri Aug 01, 2025 9:28 am

I was taken down the city a few times in the early 60's by my uncle, but my first season going with mates was 67/68. We lost 5-1 at home to Derby during the first few weeks which was a real shock. My first away game was the game with Derby at the Baseball Ground in the February that season and we got our revenge by winning 4-3. It was Brian Clarke's first game for us and he bagged a couple (legend). That season we had the heartbreak of losing to Hamburg in the semi final of the cup winners cup.
Being Grangetown born and bred, city have been in my blood ever since although ill health means I don't go to as many games as I'd like to now, so I'm grateful that we're on TV as much as we are. Doesn't matter how old you are there's not a lot of better feelings than when the ball hits the back of the net for city.
Anyway, happy new season everyone and it doesn't matter what division we're in, they are our team and we live in eternal hope, :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Similar to myself, although my first matches were in Toshacks final season around 1970.
Stood on the old Bob Bank hundreds of times in all weather.
These days, health does play a part in my attendance.
But if I can't make the matches, I'm always glued to BBC Radio Wales for the match commentary.
Looking forward to attending on Saturday with some optimism for the season ahead.
As you suggest, it's in the blood! :bluescarf: :bluebird: :bluescarf:

Exactly mate. Enjoy the ride and love the positive message. And if you can't make many games due to ill health but still able to see a TV. Honestly buy a firestick and get it broken I know its illegal streaming but it's the bigger fish they after not little fry like us who watch the odd game on it.
