BREAKING BRIAN BARRY MURPHY:

Thu Jul 31, 2025 8:39 am

Today’s Press Conference:

Thursday 31st July 2025

BRIAN BARRY MURPHY:

“We will only be Signing Quality players, we would rather do this than players in Quantity.”

“Our younger players have impressed me and will be in the starting line ups and match day squads.”

“I want the supporters to be excited by what they see and we expect to be at the top of the table.”

Is promotion still a target?

Brian Barry-Murphy: "That's not changed, we are going for promotion.”

Are you confident of keeping Yousef Salech?

Brian Barry-Murphy: "Two things. The support from the board has been really clear that the players that leave will be on our terms, Anybody we want to keep stays here. Yousef has been exceptional and we believe there’s things there that can take him to another level."

Would you like to add to the squad?

Brian Barry-Murphy: "There’s been a lot of questions about different parts of recruitment. My focus has been on assessing the squad. Getting to know them intimately. Since last season I think 14 players have left the club and we’re waiting for our first incoming. Based on the numbers we've had, we’ve had a few young players coming though."

Thoughts on young players?

Brian Barry-Murphy: "It’s more than a hope. It’s a way for those players to progress and be big players for the club. There are players from this area and they've shown a high level of potential."

Any incomings?

Are you frustrated by the lack of incomings?

Brian Barry-Murphy: "I’m very patient and calm. We’ve been working very hard behind the scenes. We can’t go into exact names until they become official. I have a specific way of working in terms of what those players look like. The club have shown me real support in being patient in getting the players we want."

Have the rumours about ownership affected you?

Brian Barry-Murphy: "Zero. Stuff on the outside in terms of takeovers has been irrelevant to me. The board have been receptive to the players we want. There’s not been a block on incomings. Zero."

Re: BREAKING BRIAN BARRY MURPHY:

Is it a deliberate decision to get Yousef Salech to do media today?

Brian Barry-Murphy: "No. There's no hidden agendas there. Ideally we would have had the captain here, but we’re going to be announcing the captain tomorrow along with the squad.

"We believe we have really good players in that position. Callum and Isaak, they all give us a really important front line

Going by the quotes, all sounds very positive.

Backs up a lot of things I've said over the summer too.

Roll on Saturday :bluebird:

BRIAN BARRY MURPHY :

"I suppose in terms of working with the club and the recruitment team, I have a specific way of working in terms of having a really clear idea of what those players look like.

"So I'm pretty demanding in what I want to bring into the club and the club has shown me real support in being patient to get the people that we want and if it just takes a bit longer than what would seem ideal and so be it."

The Bluebirds boss has also dismissed suggestions that the ongoing speculation about a possible takeover has had any effect on their transfer dealings.

"The stuff from the outside in terms of takeovers or whatever may happen is irrelevant to me. The board have shown me a real assurance and commitment to bringing the players that we want."

Meanwhile, Barry-Murphy insists he's still confident the club will hold on to their biggest stars this summer.

Brian Barry Murphy:

“I want the supporters to be excited by what they see and we expect to be at the top of the table.”

“The atmosphere this week has been incredible.” Brian began. “The game on Saturday at Notts County, to see the amount of supporters we took to that game took me back a little bit. Then the Family Fun Day was noisy, full of really positive energy, and led us into the week perfectly well. You have to go through all of those feelings of excitement and anticipation, with the understanding that at the end of the week there is actually a game where you have to play, compete and try to win.

“I’ve used the supporters as an example for the players – there’s not been one reference to last season, everything has been about this season, the games coming up and what they hope to achieve, in terms of what they want to see. That’s very much my mindset; looking forward and seeing the opportunity that’s there in front of us.”

Push were 18th in League one last season.

“There’s a lot of things that I look for, in terms of key indicators that we’re playing in the way that we want to be. That’s the most important thing, and the thing we’ve trained daily since I came into the Club. There are different levels of performance that you can achieve based on how often those things are seen, and the challenge for us is to produce as many of them as possible on Saturday, and that gives us the best chance of winning.

“I’m conveying a message to the supporters that I want them to be excited by what they see, and I guess how much excitement they see will be based on how well we play. But I think if they see a team that is intent on attacking as much as possible and trying to create as much goalmouth action as possible, I think it will be pretty straightforward.

“We can’t guarantee that we’re going to win the game, but we can guarantee what we look like, in terms of how aggressive we are and much how personality we show in the performance. From there, we have players who definitely can do that. The individual capabilities of our team are evident; bringing it together in a team concept is the most important challenge that we face, because it’s not been a long period of being together, but the players have shown a brilliant attitude and an open-mindedness to everything we’ve suggested. I’ve been really pleased.”

“Our expectations are to be really competitive. We expect to be at the top of the table – our supporters do, and we understand that it’s going to take a lot of hard work, and a lot of bumps. For the players, it’s step by step, and the first part of that is Saturday, when we have a really competitive game against a really good team.

“Peterborough have their own very young, very dynamic team. Darren [Ferguson] has been through different cycles there where he has built promotion-winning teams, so he knows what he’s doing at this level. This season they’ll be a lot stronger, they have a lot of individual players who are exciting to watch, with clear strengths. For us, it’s a really high-level test, but we’re focused on giving ourselves the best opportunity to win. We have a clear idea of what that looks like.

“The excitement is building. That passion for the Club has been evident from the very first day I came in, and it’s everywhere in the city. That excitement from the supporters is evident, and we want to give them something that fuels that excitement for the weeks ahead. Saturday is a big game, and a big day for us all.”

Re: BREAKING BRIAN BARRY MURPHY:

We need to be making these quality signings.

I’ve got a feeling it’s just a clever line that’s been put out to give them more time in the window, then when it doesn’t cone off we will here the next load of excuses.

No matter what you think, making no signings for this length of time and losing 12 players after finishing bottom of the championship is a fail.

We are one of the favourites for promotion, we should have used this as a positive to get the best players in this league.

I'm sure bbm has his targets but has to wait for the Premier league teams to name there squads before he can bring them in

I think we will get at least 2 loans in before the deadline

Play youngsters live and die by that decesion, they are either good enough or not .

Dont ask Mark Lawrence .

Fergie the investor in his players transferred tgat believe into very young minds .

Man management is a skill ..

Re: BREAKING BRIAN BARRY MURPHY:

Thu Jul 31, 2025 1:56 pm

He can put whatever spin on it he wants but the actual fact is that with less than 48 hours to the new season we have not signed 1 single player

Once again our pre season has been shambolic and we are weeks behind other teams in our preparation all because we took so long to appoint a permanent manager it’s pathetic
