This says "to sign his one year loan agreement" and the 1.8 is a purchase option if we go up

It’s 100% a loan for the season:

This has been his 5th club he’s gone out to on loan.

Seems to move from club to club.

looking forward to seeing the club make some signings, but also can’t see anyone starting until a few weeks after signing

Seems BBM would prefer to q fully integrate them for his style

Not a good sign. His current club are happy to keep loaning him out and none of the 5 clubs he's gone on loan to have wanted to keep him. You would think if he impressed, one of those clubs would have wanted to sign him permanently.

Exactly my thinking or he's just a cheap goalkeeper to suit the wages and club. Hopefully hes not stuck on his line the whole game off set pieces or doesn't do the odd calamity with the ball at his feet :bluescarf:

Massive worry that.

I agree with you.

Very pleased with this signing.

It's about BBM finding players with the right profile and that's what Trott will be.

Better than signing 12 random players.

Don't forget the mantra we've been hearing all summer

"Quality not quantity"

I'm expecting this signing (presumably authorised by the manager who "tore up" the list of other transfer targets) to be absolute top quality.

His record may be slightly that of a journeyman so far but if we're signing him he must about to start showing his quality.

I'm assuming you've seen him play then. What are his strengths? Is he a commanding keeper coming off his line and dealing with crosses? I'm assuming he can distribute quite well? I just hope he's vocal and not an overly eccentric keeper. A keeper who is commanding, a good handler, shot stopper and kicks adequately will be more than good enough for me.

BBM:

“I WILL ONLY BE SIGNING QUALITY / NOT QUANTITY.”

Re: Nathan trott signing permanent

I don't know much about him so won't comment either way

But I see runnerson was ahead of him in the pecking order at Copenhagen and I thought runnerson was one of the worse keepers to pull on the cardiff shirt

No, as I said he obviously fits the profile which is what BBM said he was looking for in new signings.

People who don't understand that are either being selective or stupid - one of the two.

Also said he would be looking for players that fit the right profile which Trott clearly does.

I'm sure some people wrote off Salech as another Kanga when he signed.

Just because a player has had a lot of loans it doesn't make them a bad player.

In order to fit the right profile he would surely have to have the "quality" that BBM has stated is a prerequisite for any signing this summer.

His career so far including so many loan spells might cause that quality to be questioned.

As far as loans are concerned I tend to disagree with what you say. Apart from youngsters who are looking to get experience it makes no sense to loan out players who you feel are good enough for your first team squad.

Players loaned out are usually surplus to requirements for the lending team and therefore not deemed of sufficient "quality" to be needed by that team.

That's not to say that we haven't had some loanees that have been real quality over the years (Eddie Newton, Gary O'Neill, Rambo, Koumas etc) but the vast majority have never really shown any great deal of quality either during their time with us or after they went back to their parent clubs.

We all hope this guy will be a success but so far in his career I am not sure what he has done so far has shown him to be "quality".

I would argue that the fact he played 30 games for one of the biggest clubs in Denmark (a league around the same level as the Championship) last season shows that he'll be good enough for League One.

I find it hilarious that people have complained for weeks about no signings and then complain about a player before they've even seen him

I'm not saying this is you because I don't think it is, but there are some forum who are determined to criticise anything the manager does because he wasn't their choice.

It's astonishing.

Roll on Saturday so we can finally talk about real football.

How do you know he fits the profile if you've never seen him play? What is BBM's profile for goalkeepers? I'm assuming BBM will want a keeper comfortable with the ball at his feet able to distribute well with his kicking, so we will soon see.

I just want a goalkeeper who is solid enough with his handling, shot stopping, commanding his box with crosses, positioning and the rest of the basics required to be a decent enough goalkeeper at this level.

Hopefully, he will do well and be an improvement on our current keepers.

Despite rumours still not signed and the season starts on Saturday. You can’t make it up. Pathetic.

I'll repeat that if he can play 30 games for Copenhagen last season then he can handle League One.

I trust the manager's judgement.

Worcester, appreciate that you’re optimistic about Nathan Trott — but I’m not seeing the evidence he’d be an upgrade for our League One squad. To recap:
He signed a four-year deal with FC Copenhagen in June 2024, so technically, his club did see long-term potential in him
Yet, just months later, he lost his spot to Diant Ramaj after Copenhagen signed the younger keeper on loan, meaning he was dropped as first choice by February 2025
Last season, Trott played in 17 of Copenhagen’s 32 Superliga matches, winning nine, drawing five and losing just three, as they clinched the league title
His overall numbers: across 17 league games, he conceded 22 goals, kept 4 clean sheets, and recorded a 62 % save rate— and his stats suggest goals prevented were negative (–1.26), so he underperformed relative to expected shots faced according to fotmob.com.
He also featured in 10 Europa Conference League games, including progress to the round of 16 before losing to Chelsea
In short: yes, he was getting decent game time and has a long contract — but Copenhagen still deemed him not strong enough to remain first choice. There’s nothing in his Superliga numbers that suggests he'd be a standout upgrade over what we already have.

The Superliga is around the same standard as the Championship.

He did play a decent amount of games in it last season so I think he can handle League One.

I'll trust the manager's judgement and not write off players before they get started.

I just think every player we sign can be a gamble especially when there's no transfer fees included like bbm if this keeper signs I will access him once he plays a few games for us so I'm not bigging him up just because bbm said quality over quantity time will tell

I watched the ewe twbe vid of him and he seems to like to command the 6yrd box. But he is a very reactive shot stopper.
