Team for Peterborough

Sat Jul 26, 2025 5:20 pm

So pre-season is done. Attention now turns to the first game in a week against Peterborough.

What team do you think we'll see?

Chambers is suspended.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the new goalkeeper come straight in, deal done it seems so should be announced quickly.

Wintle impressed me in pre-season.

Rubin and Lawlor have to start.

Think we have to find a way to play both Salech and Robinson.

Very clear we'll be playing 433.

So for me:

Trott
Kpakio Lawlor Fish Bagan
Wintle Turnbull Rubin
Robinson Salech Willock

Ashford or Davies instead of Willock for me

I agree Willock is stealing a living and should definitely not start. Ashford and Davies threaten more and work harder. Willock is soft and so frustrating to watch.

Ashford was awful today and Davies is injured so it has to be Willock or Tanner on the wing with Robinson on other.

Does anybody know whats happened to Etete, surely not injured again.

Agree also. Probably only change I would make to that 11

Although I must add eli king was very good today in the 6

Don’t fancy Robinson on the wing to be honest. It’s got to be him or salech up top. Salech for 70mins, Robinson on for the rest or vice versa. I’d have Tanner on the right wing.

Where is Robertson?

Nasty injury today, there's a thread about it.

Re: Team for Peterborough

We need pace on the other side if Robinson is playing on the side of a front 3. If Davies is injured then Tanner would probably be my choice to be direct and run at their fullback.

Re: Team for Peterborough

I personally would prefer Tanner

So possibly a few injuries already Colwill etete resting Davies and Robertson injured before we start the season

If it was a league game today then Rubin would have played. No point risking him for a friendly, probably wouldn't have played today anyway because it was for the players who didn't play at QPR.

Can't do anything about the Robertson injury, it was just a really bad challenge on him. He had stud marks up his leg.

Etete not wanted.

We know Davies is injury prone.

I said Willock because it seems Davies is injured. Wouldn't argue with the alternatives though.

We'll be playing 433 so Robinson has to go out wide, but in a way where he can drift into the middle.

I'm excited for next week, despite people on here trying to depress us all.

Think I'd go with that team Worchester. Not happy with Robinson on the wing but with Davies injured I'd play Robbo there over Cian Ashford and Tanner coz neither have had the best of pre-seasons. Could potentially swap Robbo for Colwill maybe.

Will be interesting to see how Robinson and Willock do. Under Riza, they were both poor and lacked any real fight. Will be nice to see if BBM can motivate these pair from the off.

4-3-3

Trott
Kpakio Lawlor Fish Bagan
Wintle
R.Colwill Turnbull
Tanner Salech Davies (if fit)

Wintle came on today and got bundled off the ball a couple of times. List the ball... for me he is not good enough.

That's one game.

The rest of pre-season, I've been really impressed with Wintle.

What I’ve taken from pre season and thinking about the team in general is the only position we really need (assuming no outgoings) is wingers as ours imo aren’t to standard atm and our main weak point.
Willock - I don’t know what it is just seems awful sorry for being harsh.
Tanner - seems to inconsistent can stride the whole pitch one game taking on his man then seem like he can’t be bothered being there the next game
Davies - wouldn’t mind him but is far to injury prone can’t rely on him.
Ashford - probably best of the lot but seems like he can’t get into the game in quite a lot of games.

As previously mentioned 9 players seem automatic shoe ins, (maybe king could challenge wintle though but not fussed either way) but our two wingers need to be swapped. :bluescarf:

I thought King had a very good 70 minutes, putting his foot in, winning the ball and spraying some very good passes, notably the ball for Salech to run on to for the first goal. I didn't think Wintle did anything when he came on.

Re: Team for Peterborough

Davies is fine and should well be fit for the weekend, he came off as a precaution as he felt a slight twinge but it’s all good..

Re: Team for Peterborough

Trott
Kpakio, Lawlor, Fish, Bagan
Turnbull, Robertson
Ashford, Colwill, Robinson
Salech

Put king instead of wintle afer yesterday's performance

……………………..…Trott…………………….
Kpacio….…Lawlor…..Fish….…Daland
…………..………...Wintle………….………..
Davies…Turnbull/King…Rubin…Bagan
……………………….Salech……………….…..

If/when we buy a new left winger, then drop Bagan to left back and bench 1 of the defenders (whoever is underperforming). Actually think Joe B is a decent threat going forwards and is more than capable of getting goals.
