MY VIEW " BBM'S BLUEBIRDS END PRE-SEASON UNBEATEN "

Sat Jul 26, 2025 3:51 pm

As I've said before, can't read anything into pre-season results - it's about fitness and the new style.

But nice to finish it unbeaten anyway.

The players that played most of the game today were those that didn't get many minutes at QPR.

First half we dominated and deservedly led.

Notts County came back into it in the second half and probably deserved to. They scored a wonder goal early in the second half. Poor defending for their second goal but remember a lot of subs had been made by then.

Robertson injured by a terrible Norwood challenge.

But more positives to take. High press again very effective.

FT: Notts County 2-2 Cardiff City

Real stuff starts next week :bluebird:

Well said Ned :bluebird: :bluebird:

These games were about fitness and getting to see the players individually for BBM

It's certainly been a promising pre-season and let's hope that continues into the new season.

Keeping a clean sheet would be a novel suggestion though!

It is only pre-season, but we need to stop caving in again and letting teams back in to the games and keep the lead.

Another 2 goals conceded against League 2 opposition.

We're going to concede some goals this season.

We are crying out for a Mozza type leader at the back

I agree, We are too soft and can't hold onto a lead. Forward play definitely improved and in Salech and Robinson we should score freely.

Thought we played well first half but we got to remember we are unfortunately out of the championship where your technical ability of playing good football outshines the physicality aspect of the game, we are now in league 1 where the roles are now reversed and the physicality outshines the playing football side of the game, my worries are that we still cant defend to save our lives and we have too many individuals making stupid mistakes again, I just hope that the negativity from last season don't creep in to this season, but the sorry part of todays performance showed me that some of the negativity is still there.
Do I think we will be sorry for the lack of movement on the transfer market then its a deffo yes I really do, these players will get knocked off the ball too easy and if we do not sign players to counter that then Im sorry but my view that we will find it really hard and more demanding then we all thought, after watching that game today I think we will be lucky to get a mid table finish, sorry to be a bit negative and I know todays game was only a friendly but what I saw today came as a bit of a shock, just remember Notts county are far from your Luton, Stockport, Reading and your Bolton far from it.
Like I said its my outcome of todays game and I really hope that I am wrong but the signs of us struggling next season was all to see today.

I think people need to remember that the team that played today won't be the team next Saturday.

Today was about giving minutes to players who didn't get minutes against QPR.

Pre-season is just about getting players to play football matches again.

Pleased with the performance against QPR and pleased with the first half today. Because there are signs that we're in a good place.

Also signs that there are a few things to work on.

That's normal for pre-season.

I've seen us blitz teams in pre-season and have a dreadful season. I've also seen us been awful in pre-season but then had a great season.

For good or for bad, taking pre-season too seriously is a fool's game.

My view is unchanged. We will be in and around the top six at least.

Defence worries me, but we should win comfortably next week. :ayatollah:
