WHAT THE TRUST WROTE TO ITS MEMBERS

Fri Jul 25, 2025 3:49 pm

A message to our members (CCST)

You will recall that, when reports first emerged of a bid to acquire Cardiff City, we contacted the club to seek clarification. We received a response that no formal bid had been made but a notice of intention to make such an offer had been received.

Since then speculation regarding a bid has significantly ramped up not just on social media but also in the national press. Reports that a quantified bid has been made, together with interviews with Gareth Bale who is reported to be involved with a consortium, is causing consternation amongst the fanbase who, in our view, should be kept in the picture.

We have since contacted directly the 3 Europe based Directors of the club seeking further clarification of the situation and asking for an official public statement to be made.

We received a reply that the Club are not prepared to make a public statement in response to what they say are “rumours”.To say that this is a very unsatisfactory situation is an understatement. The Club need to confirm the position so that supporters get the clarity they deserve. We will continue to press the club to make a formal statement.

So, above is what the Cardiff City Supporters Trust wrote to their members…

Am I the only one to find it confusing and contradictory, as it appears to state (a) Keith has spoken to people (presumably some at the club) who have said there is no Otto bid on the table, yet on the other hand, (b) he’s had no satisfactory response?

Certainly sounds contradictory to me, and they are in danger of being called the dis-Trust!

My thoughts exactly Chris.

They're desperately trying to sound relevant because they feel they're being left out.

I do not blame the club one bit for saying nothing until everything is officially signed off, it could prejudice things.

I don’t read it as contradictory. I read it as they’ve been told no. And also told no comment.
So much smoke and mirrors atm. VT as known, is extremely into privacy and reading across so many different sites. I’d have a stab that some serious NDA’s have been signed and a potential buyer is happy to run silent until it’s signed. But then again ??? It’s CCFC :)

Ned, they appear to have been marginalised

Having said that, you’re right to say the club itself are bound to want to keep a lid on information and expectations, as no deal is truly ‘done’ until the ink is dry and all parties have ‘something’ to announce with the traditional pomp, ceremony, and fanfare!

I'm with both of you here.

The club have admitted they have received a Letter of Intent. That the best we will get out of them and rightly so.

Ian, it’s impressive from both sides and why the ‘confusion amongst the ranks’ will continue until any deal is announced; which may well still take some time :ayatollah:

Yep.

So many fans were saying last season we are stuck with Tan because no one wants us. Well this LoI has squashed that theory. :ayatollah:

The trust leadership appears to be middle-class, well-educated professionals, either retired or near retirement. I think they dream of a trust with teeth, but no ownership of a £100million business, however progressive, is going to invite them to the boardroom.

The FAB needs to take over as the voice of the fans with fresh elections, with fans running on a mandate. The elections were rushed and vague; now we understand the premise, they need to be run again, so different viewpoints can be elected.

I have no idea what these clever people thought the club was going to say? They either stick to the "no-bid" soundbite or secretly tell Keith something under a NDA, then he can't comment either, so he has to spout the club line.

I doubt many outside Vinny and Choo know what is happening, so they are unlikely to tell someone who publicly (belatedly) criticises their leadership and governship.

It looks like they thought they had to do something, and in doing so, made the trust look even weaker than they are.

I said on another post that I reckon NDAs must have been signed as it’s nothing has been said.

Bet that’s tan keeping us frustrated for as long as he can. :D

Frustrated? Or simply wanting to keep as much as he can ‘in-house’? :?

You don’t need to be pro-Tan to understand the business side of these negotiations and he’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t make public comment!

In reality, for him, or the potential buyers, it would be mad to do so! :ayatollah:

Tongue in cheek comment that was Sven.

And you’re correct he’s damned if he does or doesn’t. I just think that no comments being made, is simply because something is happening.

Can’t really blame the club on this one.

I’m sure Man Utd were keeping things quiet when they had offers, but such a big club it was hard to keep away from the media.

No different here, they’ll keep quiet until something is ready to announce.

Think the Trust just expect too much here.

Sadly Morgan is very bitter, that No one tells him anything anymore and it’s getting him very confused his bitterness.

This Business deal is being done quietly and privately the main issues and so it should be.

I never usually stick up for the Hierarchy, but why should they discuss the Sale publicly until it’s hopefully done.
