73 goals concealed (or maybe conceded)

Fri Jul 25, 2025 3:20 pm

Where is the problem?
Was it riza with inexperince? Was it players didnt make the effort?
Im asking because at this moment in time we going with what got us relegated last season conceded 73 goals with a couple of youngsters from our academy llawlor I'm not convinced so far by new coach will take alot to get me onside I've followed city since 1968 and see alot seen managers come and go all saying the same thing we going for promotion I think this time he's really put alot of pressure on himself because he don't win first game at home he's going to get murdered anyway what do others think top 2? Top 6? Mid table? Your guess

Anyone who knows a bit about football could see how unfit and poorly coached we were last year it was pretty obvious from around boxing day we were going to be relegated the team had no direction no set way to play riza was pretty much winging it game by game

This season we are super fit super well coached and have a definite identity in the way we want to play football

There will be times we absolutely blow teams away 5 or 6 nil and there will be times when we conceed frustratingly trying to play out from the back

What it won't be is boring, ill come back to this comment at Christmas time but I think we will witness the most exciting football since the dave Jones era

As the current squad stands, and with no new replacements, I think we're a bottom half of the league club,,,, as things stand.

I certainly don't agree that we are a top six club, certainly not without any new blood in the camp. We are in a very difficult, and competitive league,,, the first six or seven games will tell us a lot of home truths.

The fact is that we have to strengthen, we have to be a lot better (than last season). You simply can't expect the same bunch of players to play better than they did, over the course of last season. Im sure better organisation, motivation, fitness levels, and a distinct style of play will improve matters for a short period, so we shall see. It's going to be another long season, as things currently stand, IMHO!

Absolutely agree.

Our back 4 was never settled, a centre midfielder played mainly at right back, a left winger played at left back. Constant changes to the centre back pairings and constant changes infront of them in central midfield.

Bagan improved over last season and regular football will certainly help him.

Daaland, Fish, Lawlor, Chambers are all good enough at centre back.

I haven't seen a lot of kpakio to judge him but he's had high praise from Bellamy.

I believe we are good enough to make top 6 without signings in the summer.

Hopefully the rumours about the take over is true and completed by January and we strengthen then to get us over the line.

Good post, the team NEVER looked fit at anytime last season.

Nailed it. 100% agree.

I do find it interesting that bookies and neutrals have us down for top six.

Yet some of our own fans (a minority it has to be said) think we'll be bottom half.

I'll believe the neutrals, they know more about this league than most of our fans.

There were a lot of people, this time last year, saying City were good enough for a Championship play off place, last season.
I wasn’t one of them, and as things currently stand, and if they remain the same for the next few months, then I think we will struggle, in a very competitive, and physical league. They say that a week is a long time in football, and who knows what’s going to happen this time next week, or next month for that matter. We all live in hope, and dream of better times ahead for our beloved Club. Who knows?

In the meantime, its business as usual, with the limited resources available.

A few fans were but neutrals and bookies had us nowhere near the top six last season.

I doubt neutrals and bookies had us down for Championship relegation fodder either, but there we go.

Yes.

Yes Roath Blue is correct because I was thinking why?we were 12th last year but they were right and Riza helped them totally out of his depth.
This year we ve lost 12 so far and improved fitness and no new additions is not convincing me at the movement, I will wait and see but need a few in.

Totally disagree. Of course the players there last year can play at a better level over the season.
1 being its a lower league so they should as (lots were commenting last season these players are only good enough for league 1). Well we in league 1 so are you saying now they only good enough for league 2?
Also as stated better organised better fitness more clarity on roles tactics etc. I believe we will be pushing top 6 if not higher

Top post.

There are so many things that are annoying me.

People said it wasn’t the players, it was Riza. Now it’s ’the Players are shite’

People are making out that we are playing a superior quality of opposition. We are playing the likes of Port Vale.

The best part is that the majority (not all) of the posters who only post negative comments are in their 60s or over. They will have seen us in a lot worse positions.

The scaremongering is also getting ridiculous.

Lawlor has a contract offer from another club? He’s in contract so other clubs can’t offer a contract.

Laughable at this stage!

In the Know? More like ‘I don’t know’

I said the players were shit last year, well the defence, and I see no reason so far to change that view. They were very leaky last season & haven't done great pre season, hopefully they're getting whipped into shape & won't be chopped & changed every game so they get used to playing with each other.

We seem to have found a gem in Salech & CR seems to be up for it so far so we should be okay going forward, maybe need some bite in midfield but nothing too drastic. It's the defence that has me worried every time the opposition has the ball, they just don't seem to have any confidence in their ability to stop the opposition.
