TNS - Are they Welsh?

Wed Jul 23, 2025 7:12 am

So I see TNS are playing FC Differange from Luxembourg tonight at their Park Hall Ground in Oswestry - five miles inside the English border.

Now I accept how the club was formed but, until today, I always assumed they actually played inside Wales.

Essentially they are an English club, with a Welsh sounding name, that have been allowed to play in the League of Wales.

How are they any different to Hereford Shrewsbury or Chester

It seems a little perverse that the FAW will allow an England based side to represent Wales but will not allow the big 4 - WELSH BASED - sides to do so

Am confused by this?

It all about league affiliation.

We can shout about our Welsh routes all we want, for all intents and purposes, if we make any European competition, we represent the English system.

It's the opposite for TNS.

The owner
Purchased a welsh club llansaffriad who then progressed to the welsh prem they played at that ground in Wales for a few seasons and then moved over to Oswestry England ,
total network solutions is a business and that's how that football club have operated just to make money nothing to with community football they have been professional for years in an amateur league, milked millions from the welsh league they don' t have a ground as such its a pitch which was part of the back side of the sports centre in Oswestry they have outside catering coming in etc when I last went,
all other clubs such as my home town newtown could not compete with wages etc its been a shambles newtown have been in Europe 5/6 times beating Maltese champions played Copenhagen sconta riga etc but done it a fair way Tns have had such a big advantage over all other clubs, and the other clubs just cannot create the revenue that tns have sadly.

Is that both the same in most leagues in the world That the richer clubs rule the leagues through higher revenue and wages

Pen Y Bont gave them a good run for their money last season and the gap is closing slowly, the owner is a bit of a gob shite also and used to be on Call Rob quite regularly blowing smoke up his own arse and bigging up some players. The FAW get share of money from UEFA so they arent going to complain, how much of that goes back to grass roots I dont know.

Similar a few years ago, Port Talbot were trying to get funding for new pitch but it went to Merthyr who weren't in the Welsh system, FAW no different to any other organisation, they have their favourites. :bluebird:
