Don't want to get into predictions of where we'll finish. I think we'll have a good season and be in the promotion mix, others think we won't do so well.
Point of this thread is asking whether it's all about the league or do we try to do well in the cup competitions?
Vertu Trophy is a chance to get to Wembley for any League One club.
I enjoy a cup run but I also think the FA Cup run last season was detrimental to us in the long term. We played well at Villa but there was nothing decent after that.
And don't forget we'll enter the FA Cup in the First Round this season instead of the Third, so more games if we did have a run.
Personally I would prioritise the league.

Although a cup run is nice I feel the league is way more important
I think gaining promotion at the first attempt is crucial as we don't want to end up stuck in league 1 for a while like has happened to a few other teams who have dropped down from the championship

I said last season we didn’t need a cup run and that it wasn’t the right time.
It still isn’t the right time.
Focus on the league.

Promotion, happy to exit every cup competition 1st round if it means promotion at the end of the season

League cup runs are bonus but got to be the league this year. Our best chance of promotion will be this season. If we don’t go up this season I think we’ll be in league one for a while

My first priority this season is to finally see the back of Tan, bring in new owners who will take the club and supporters forward together. If these bids fail then i fear the worse, Tan will once again try and get things done on the cheap and fail. So for me it's vital that new owners arrive ASAP.

Yeah it's pretty clear I was talking about on the pitch.

I read your post, i know exactly what you were referring to. This running away with the league or a least be in the playoffs is not going to happen if Tan is still running the club.

So you're another one who is letting Tan live in your head rent free.
I want him gone but those who say it's impossible to have success because of the owner are just stupid.

We are where we are because of the owner, he has slowly been destroying the club for years and it is all down to him why we got relegated last season. He brought in a 3rd rate manager and refused to replace him until it was too late, his total lack of football knowledge is killing the club. Now if you think that he will change this season you must be stupid, he has already gambled hugely on another inexperienced manager, there will be little if any money available for some quality players which we desperately need and he thinks it's a matter of turning up to win the league. So if that's Tan living in my head then you might just be right.

If tans still here just staying up will be an achievement.
