Trust ask for clarity on Bale bid

Tue Jul 15, 2025 3:39 pm

Cardiff City Supporters' Trust has called on the club to provide clarity over a reported takeover bid fronted by Gareth Bale.

Bale, who earned 111 caps for Wales and remains one of the country’s most iconic football figures, recently revealed that his consortium has submitted a "brand new offer" to current owner Vincent Tan in a bid to take over the League One outfit.

Despite Bale speaking openly about his ambitions to transform his hometown club, Cardiff have yet to publicly comment on the matter, with sources insisting that their stance is not to speak out on rumours.

In a statement, the Trust said it had previously contacted the club when initial reports of a takeover surfaced and were told that while no formal bid had been lodged, a notice of intent had been received, in-keeping with what WalesOnline has also been told.

However, in a statement, the Trust said: "The reports that a quantified bid has been made, along with interviews featuring Gareth Bale, are causing consternation among the fanbase who should be kept in the picture.

"We have contacted the three Europe-based directors asking for a formal update. However, the response we received stated the club was not prepared to make a public statement regarding what they termed 'rumours'.

"To say that this is a very unsatisfactory situation is an understatement. The club needs to confirm the position so that supporters get the clarity they deserve. We will continue to press the club to make a formal statement."

Remember when the board promised more transparency and open dialog with supporters and people actually believed them

The people running this club will never change, they don't care about us we're just paying customers to them and continue to treat us with distain

I can't wait for the day they walk out from the ccsc (not that they are there that often) for the last time

What can the board say? We've got interested parties in buying club? We already know that.. names are not always revealed as is the potential buyers perogative........
Suppose club could say club as got 3 potential buyers and contacts been made? Fans know that aswell...... what do fans actually want club to say that we don't already know about.....be interested to know?

Dont get it people asking for stuff from club yet they already know the answers to the questions ... so why do they need club to say anything? Moral support maybe!

Do they need to ask for clarity? We all know Bale has put a bid in and we know he thinks its a fair one.

What do the Trust want to know?

Nice one! I was thinking along those lines!

If the club are (and I believe they are) in negotiations, whether early or late, with a prospective buyer or buyers, we only really need to know (a) it’s happening, and (b) a deal has been agreed/completed :ayatollah:

An update might be useful from the club as the season is upon us, and we are yet to make a signing,
or maybe a plan of where they think we are going this season?.

I fully agree, it’s not helpful saying nothing, and if they don’t wish to talk on speculation then don’t create it, but not answering at least some basic questions, it’s all it’s doing

When they say something, there will be more questions etc.. it never stops but saying nothing to paying customers of course never helps..

As i've said before, we should have 20,000 members of the trust but they are weak and the owners know it. They should be holding the board to account at all times.

My reply was more to posters who keep saying what do you want the club to say that we don' t already know .

It's what the club says people at the top, not what the trust says, that's whats been asked

I am sorry Allan and Matt, I have to disagree, everything you say we already know is all based on pure speculation.
I for one would appreciate an update as we are all in the dark and playing with rumours not what we know.
A statement along the lines of:
We have received interest from 3 parties, one has been expressed as being involved with Gareth Bale , the other parties for now will not be revealed. We ask that our supporters remain patient and all will be revealed in due course . We still have the best interests of Cardiff City in mind and will keep you informed of any change in circumstances.Tgank you for your support and patience.
Something like that would be nice and maybe settling.
Not constant SILENCE

OK will go along with that at least you've said what you'd want them to say.... but that will only be repeating what's been said on here orher than its confirmation of what's happening?
Not sure what trust want to know about Bale that he hasn't already said himself? He is fronting a bid from usa that's all going to get confidentiality would stop anything else coming out.. its the other 2 parties perogative not to have them disclose anything about them... club so tight not even the media no anything other than what' Bale said that's how secret it all is.

Your "statement" says everything we already know so why do you feel the need for it to be made official by the club ? Can't you show your "support and patience" without being requested to do so by the club ? It's obvious that the board does not want to make public its ongoing negotiations with potential buyers until a deal is struck. This seems a sensible business decision to me.
