All that's needed is an orange ball, who remembers them?

That's a decent fall to be fair. There always seemed to be quite a few games in the 60's where the pitch was frozen, City v Villa on Boxing Day 1967 being an example. I can't recall a City home match played with an orange ball but there probably was. There was a lot more snow around then, especially up north. For memory, quite a few televised matches from Roker Park were played with an orange ball due to a snow-covered pitch.

Ha! That pic is a few years before my first attendance, I remember games being called off for frozen pitches but not so much for (light) snow. If they could run a snow shovel along the line markings, the game would go ahead with an orange ball

We even had games in thick fog, where the game went ahead m, if the referee could make out both goals from the half-way line! The crowd at either end would be listening intently as the play moved away from them, because they just couldn’t see what was going on up there other end!

You must be thinking of the City v Mansfield game in the early 90's. Most of the time nobody had a clue what was going on, the fog was that bad. When we went 3-2 up it I thought the ref was going to abandon the game but thankfully he didn't and we won.

That would fit time wise and credit to your memory! :ayatollah:

Good god would have needed a radio with commentary. Ha.
