Mannsverk to Blackburn

Thu Jul 10, 2025 9:32 am

Former Cardiff City loanee Sivert Mannsverk is looking increasingly likely to complete a summer switch to Championship side Blackburn Rovers on a permanent contract.

The 23-year-old has been handed the green light to leave Dutch giants Ajax on a permanent deal this summer and after his six month stint in South Wales, he now looks set to remain in English football.

It’s a shame, he’s actually a good fit in BBM’s system as a 6.

A player who didn't mind putting a tackle in. In a better side would probably been more effective, not sure if Blackburn are the right team for him.

He didn't improve us 1 iota. Another run that run slightly harder than the rest and got praise.

I think the Championship isn't a good fit for him, after watching him for half a season. I'd stay abroad if I were him.

Have to disagree SB I thought he had something about him

Yes, you have to consider the players that he had around him last year, plus the tactics, formation etc.

Agree with this.

Didn’t shit out of challenges, and his passing range was a lot better than our other options.

Towards the end of his time here he had dropped, but I guess that is part and parcel of being in a squad lacking direction and confidence.

Fair enough. How would you say he improved us?

His league debut was a 7-0 sub appearance against Leeds. He then was a starter or 60 minute sub on a run of games that ultimately led us to relegation, and lost his place to utility Andy Rhinomota in the final few games; with Rambo leaving him out of the squad all together in a do-or-die last 2 games.

Out of his 17 league appearances, we won TWO, drew SEVEN and lost EIGHT. For me, he blended in to a very poor team and didn't look out of place.

He was sold to us as a 'box-to-box' midfielder. He recorded no goals and a single assist in his 17 appearances. He had 9 shots in his Cardiff City career. Our rivals down the road signed Lewis O'Brien from Forest, who was loosely linked with us. He starred in the centre for them, helping them get 8 wins on the run in.

Blackburn is a good move for him. I recall is being quoted on here that he was worth £10Mill or so? Hmmmm...

Think it was more to do with those around him as you could see he looked well composed and knew his way around the pitch without the ball too, Riza tactics suffocated him. Class player I thought :bluebird:

Totally agree, I thought he was a class above any of our players

This is kind of my point with him, and Rino/O'Dowda etc.

Comparison to the rest of the shit, isn't really the yardstick, is it?

However, I do hear all of your opinions. Someone point me to a game where he really stood out, I'll go back and watch the highlights. :happy1:

I have family in Norway and had seen him play for Molde when he was younger. I was excited about the signing.

I thought he did alright, but if I'm honest he didn't do as well as I expected - but the whole squad underachieved.

Decent passer of the ball, good luck to him at Blackburn.

100% agree you could tell he was class in his movement on & off the ball. Loved a tackle also.

I’d love him back under a decent manager but L1 is a step too low for him.

He was a good footballer in a poor team last season.
Was never going to play at a lower standard that we now find ourselves in!
