MY VIEW " AN IMPRESSIVE SECOND HALF "

CITY DRAW 2-2 WITH THE MALAYSIAN CHAMPIONS

RUBIN QUALITY AND THE BEST PLAYER ON THE PITCH

SALECH RED CARD LATE ON

As I've said before, I don't attach too much meaning to friendlies. Whether we win or lose, I have always said that these games are about the players getting used to the new system and building fitness ahead of the real matches.

There was a different team in each half.

First half I thought we started alright but some players struggled to be progressive with their passing. That led to us struggling to make an impact.

Johor had a player sent off at the end of the first half but both teams agreed to let them carry on playing with 11 players as it was a friendly.

HT 0-0

Second half team was much better and we dominated.

Rubin, Ashford and Nyakuhuwa impressed me.

Rubin scored a good free kick and was the best player on the pitch.

Salech was sent off late on and then Johor scored in the last minute.

BBM's first official match and there were good signs. Can't complain with that, even though I don't like to judge friendlies too much.

Next up is Southend on Saturday, but a good start.

Rubin could shine under BBM

Should have won. Poor young goalkeeper with a howler at the end gave them a draw. Result is irrelevant though. We played some good football at times. Enjoyed seeing the youngsters play especially Lawlor. Some player there. Good work out and clear the BBM wants pressing high and work rate.

To be fair heat over here is very very warm

They will certainly get fit.

BBM will have been able to see what he thinks of individuals.

I am flying their for Saturdays game :bluebird: :bluebird:

Thought second half we were very impressive going forward

I liked the balance of the midfield 3 and rubin was brilliant I honestly believe that he will rip league 1 apart

If we are going to strengthen I feel it should be at the back as that is where we are weakest

I have no idea how you can call that a howler from the keeper. What was he supposed to do with the ball outside the area? Pick it up? There were 2 defenders who just left it for the keeper to deal with despite it being outside the area, he did all he could & kicked it, hardly his fault Fish was in the way when he did. Very poor defending rather than being the fault of a third string keeper.

Not arsed about any of the friendly results they're just fitness exercises imo.

I didn't see the game but I'm more interested to know was there an identity of how we're going to play this season?

Might be too early to ask the question...

This is why I think we need to bring in an experienced no nonsense center half who would of put that ball in to row z, I feel we're to soft at the back and need a leader in there to help the young lads

To be fair the defenders didn't help him but an experienced goalkeeper takes charge in that moment. He panicked. Completely feel for the lad, its one of those things. He was just thrust into the action when he wasn't expected to play. Daland is the worry at centre back for me. Still looks too slow and easily bullied for a big guy.

Not sure what an experienced keeper would have done differently besides be a little faster out of the box but the defenders knew he was third string & fresh into the game. Our defence just carry on with their comedy of errors from last season & for me are still a huge worry.
