It's time to get over relegation

Sun Jul 06, 2025 12:57 pm

I've not responded to as many threads recently as I normally do, not even been on here much if I'm honest.

The reason? I am one of many fans who are feeling optimistic about the new season and seeing some people on here twist everything into a negative brings your mood down.

A lot of people start with "we've just been relegated to the lowest level in over 20 years".

Yeah, over two months ago. We have to put that behind us now and focus on supporting the team in the future. If we keep looking back at that then we'll never have a positive mindset.

The other thing I dislike is people saying "we'll never progress while Tan is owner".

I don't agree. I think Tan has run the club extremely badly and should sell it.

But it's pure wrong to say we'll never progress while he's owner. We have a good manager who has a good reputation within the industry (but people can't be bothered to research that). I truly believe he will get it right and get us back to the Championship this season - he is totally different to Riza, Morison, Hudson etc.

And he's not cheap. Saying he's the cheap option is untrue.

If people won't be happy until Tan goes then the likelihood is that they're going to be miserable for a long time yet.

Well said, Ned

We are where we are League-wise and we move on or (as some have done) ship out

I think we all believe/know Tan has run the club badly and it’s time for him to go. I would suggest he knows that now even if his ‘mole’ doesn’t tell him the whole truth

I’m with you on thinking BBM is a good choice to help us bounce back and whilst stories from constant WUMs like Proud Jack, which are designed to destabilise the support-base, are unhelpful, I hope that once the dust settles and the season starts, those of us (at least 12k loyals so far) will be right behind BBM and his players new and old

I’m certainly not worried about a lack of signings. BBM is working on those and he know he needs them soon to bed in to the swuad. He’ll get them as quickly as he can :ayatollah:

What makes you think we are going to progress with Tan.

Come back with this post at the end of August because we have a difficult start including the two sides who came down with us but finished above us. It will all depend on what quality of players we bring in, let's wait and see.

I am looking forward to the season i have put last season behind me but I do certainly not want to be stuck in this division after 1 season, but a few fans are bigging up our new manager as if he is the messiah, and unless they have inside knowledge of what's coming in regarding players its more hope than fact, and fans can only read between the lines thinking he will bring in kids from man city, but to date it's been a cost cutting exercise with 11/12 out tan wants it reduced and murphy said he wants a small squad well that's a conicidence .
I have yet to hear from murphy of what players he wants in
Bulut at least stated what he wanted early on .
I await the influx of kids and some seasoned pro' s to help the kids along.

I like you am optimistic for the coming season as I believe we have landed ourselves a proper coach for the first time in ages

But I do believe we will never fulfill our full potential with tan in charge and by that I mean an established mid table Premier league side,

I just don't think the club will ever be run in a way that will allow this to happen whilst we have tan and his clowns running the show

I expect us to be back in the championship sooner rather than later but that's as far as it will go imo until there is a change of ownership

Just to be clear:

I am feeling positive because I have heard good things about this manager and we have some quality young players.

We don't know if it will work, there are never any guarantees.

We do need experience.

But for now I am feeling optimistic.

I'm with you , league one is shit ,we have a squad of players that have played in the premiership and championship most of there playing days , we have exciting youngsters coming through too , if Murphy is as good as i think he is as a coach we will be fine, you dont manage man city pl2 team if your shit ,the doom and gloom on here every day ,multiple posts daily on the same subject makes reading this forum a bit tiresome atm .

As an alternate thought, what makes people think we won’t progress under BBM? :?

The Tan thing is no longer a debate that needs persuasion

Well said.

We are where we are, let’s get on with it.

I am over it.

Its a day out, sometimes a few beers, sometimes more :occasion5:

I couldn't do another Hudson, Morison or Riza. I was excited by Bulut until i realized the football was from a different culture and was never going to work out here.

I think the squad departures helps BBM, it has Malky overtures. He is from the Bellamy school which excites me, they are going to have to run, and i believe football is returning to a young man's game.

Still need 2 fast wingers and a proper old school centre half, but I am happy.

Excellent opening post and one I’d agree with in all aspects.

Well said Worcester and it’s great your sticking to your beliefs.

I’m optimistic about the coming season. We are in league one, it is what is is so get over it.

Saying that, I’m hoping for at least three players coming in including an experience midfielder because I think more will leave.

I am reserving my judgement until a fee games at least have passed.

We have youngsters that might come out and surprise everyone, but if they don’t something will need to happen fast to correct it. They will benefit from more time on the ball, but Oxford came out of thus division and we struggled against them last season with mostly the same players they came up with.

We need to make sure we start strong and keep the pressure on the players not to ease off
