A forum for all things Cardiff City

We have just been relegated to our lowest level in nearly a quarter of a century, had let twelve players go from the first team squad without bringing in a single replacement (also, there'd not been a single credible rumour all summer regarding a possible new signing), we have a depleted coaching staff featuring some who had been promoted to coaching the senior team from working with youngsters, and have appointed a new manager with only a reputation for developing young players.
Would you feel that club's supporters had a right to be concerned for the future?
I have noticed your not allowed by some on here to be concerned, but I am.
Sun Jul 06, 2025 8:09 am
You're also only allowed to be concerned and post about it once according to some.
Yes, is the simple answer.
Concerned too that, with offers on the table ( more than one) that Tan will stick around, keep hold of our club, and drive it further into oblivion.

Yes
Sun Jul 06, 2025 8:16 am
I do understand your concerns but I do have mixed opinions.
The fact that we have not bought anyone, just yet, I actually see as a good sign as opposed to a bad sign. My thinking is that if Tan is looking to leave then he will not be looking to make any purchases.
As to the side we presently have I do think we have a lot of depth and i referred to this in an earlier post (see below)
https://www.cardiffcityforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=245382That said, if a few important players were to leave, I agree it could leave us a little short and I would be interested in what players, particularly younger players, BBM plans to bring in from his contacts at Man City, Leicester and Chelsea

1,000% YES
But the usual suspects say No, then when it’s to late most just walk away or disappear for a while and come back and out all is good and what’s the problem.
We are over £110Mill in Debt / League 1 / Management Team???? / Playimg Sauad well??? / Crowds getting lower and. Hierarchy not interested in Our Club at all.

Every fan should be very concerned and worried, it has got worse and worse.
Sun Jul 06, 2025 8:23 am
100% we should be concerned.
We are one of the favourites to go up. We should be picking the best players out of this league to come to us at the very least.
There’s no point waiting until the last week and buying left overs.
We need the right players in ASAP, they will need time to adapt to each other and any new style of play. Pre season is when this should happen, not the first 5 games of the season.
Sun Jul 06, 2025 8:23 am
I am concerned and you have forgotten about the Soulless stadium thanks to these bafoon’s, will not be renewing for my sons and me,just buying a membership and away games only, not bringing my sons to that stadium as it is.
Sun Jul 06, 2025 8:24 am

I'm not optimistic about our season in league one some seem to think we will walk this league simply because the bookies have us second favourites personally tan is gambling again with a youth coach who only experience is youth football or relegation with Rochdale its still a gamble because no one knows anything about how he will manage so at moment I'm not optimistic
Sun Jul 06, 2025 8:40 am
On relegation, My son said we’d go straight back up.
I said, not with Vincent tan we won’t.
He said - our squad is too good.
I said, that squad won’t be there….
He’s a football terrorist as the youngsters say.
On a brighter note.
I’m getting in plane to algarve with Bristol city first team squad.
We’re taking the piss out of them already lol

100 percent concerned yet again will be playing catch up.Tan took too long before appointing a manager .
YET again communication is sparse.
Sun Jul 06, 2025 8:45 am
No one has said that you aren’t allowed to be concerned.
What people have said (including me) is that anyone who doesn’t throw their toys completely out of the pram gets called a ‘Tan Lover’ - which is incorrect no matter how many times it’s said. It’s pathetic and it’s childish.
The same people don’t listen to a word that is being said so that an agenda can be pushed, and unfortunately there’s a hell of a lot of people who just follow the narrative and also call those supporters and the Trust/FAB etc names.
People talk about him being a dictator but then if you don’t agree with every narrative on here then you get slated left right and centre by every person.

In an ideal world we’d have made signings by now, personally I think BBM has wanted to have a look at the squad and see exactly what he needs to play his brand of football. This is possibly a good thing because previously the hierarchy would have signed players off their own back and tried to force the managers to shoehorn them into their plans, there’s so many examples of that here it’s pointless even naming them. I also believe we won’t be spending money on transfers and we will have to make do with the free and loan market. So in short I wouldn’t hit the panic button just yet

Matt I agree I don't like Tan Lovers I would prefer supporters conversely I didn't like phrases coming out like Riza haters, I never wanted him but I didn't dislike him or hate him I think it works both ways.

Always concerned about the off field shenanigans at this club and I don't feel we will ever reach out potential whilst we are being run by a dictator and a bunch of amateurs which is why it's imperative that tan sells up as soon as possible
As for on the field I'm not panicking just yet, although it would be nice to have already got a few signings through the door BBM said from the start he wanted to trim the squad down first
Those talking about relegation obviously haven't watched much league 1 football, apart from the top third of the league it's a really poor league probably as big a gap as from the premiership to the championship
I predicted relegation early on last season and got slated for it from some quarters, this season there is no chance we will be even close to the bottom 4 as long as the squad stays as it is
The main goal for me this season is to see tan sell the club and if that means he refuses to buy or sign any players then that is a price I'm willing to pay to see the back of him

100% we should be concerned some fans have a very laid back attitude waiting till the end of august till we gather our squad together is very bad news ,as I have said on other topic "hit the ground running" there are 6 games 18 points to play for .
So for all those fans with a laid back attitude same as last season look what happened, a bad start loosing the first 6 games and our season was catch up from then on.
I wish our new manager all the best and I really hope he is warnock number 2 a motivator, and we storm this division and are in the top 5 early on but i am not gushing about a manager with no big scalps in his CV , been involved with 2 reserve academy's teams and managing a relegated team does not fill me with any confidence but he will have my full support at the start of the season but if we are mid table or below after 10 games I will be letting him know what I think.

We will have a full house when you comment Tan took us to the Premier twice.

You have every right to be concerned, many on here think the squad is already good enough for promotion, i don't think it's anywhere near good enough. Are people forgetting how many bottlers we had in the squad?? How many players who were not up for the fight?? Well most of them are still at the club. Unless we bring in 3-4 quality players for this division then i think we'll struggle and i'm convinced that the lunatic Tan beleives this squad doesn't need much if any spending on it to deliver, this is why he has to go ASAP.
Sun Jul 06, 2025 9:56 am
I will be concerned when regulars from last year's line up start to leave, of the 12 that have left its only O'Dowda and Goutas i would have liked to keep. Ralls and Ramsey will be a miss off the field but didn't offer much on it.
As the squad stands, I think we are in need of a new keeper, a right back now NG is out for months and an experienced no nonsense centre back to play alongside Fish. It would also be good to get some cover for Salech as Etete isn't up to it and Robinson is a completely different style of player.
If any of our regulars leave then they will obviously need replacing.
Hopefully the lack of signings or rumours is because Tan is looking to sell. I'd be more than happy to sign nobody if it means he's leaving soon. On the other hand, maybe BBM is giving everyone a chance before bringing players in, we have a lot of players with potential who haven't lived up to it yet so here's to hoping they can this season.

Am I concerned? Of course I am concerned.
We have signed nobody, we have watched some decent league 1 type players leave. We just came BOTTOM of the Championship. We have an unproven manager. We have an apparently disinterested owner.
Do I expect us to be relegated? NO.
Do I expect us to win promotion back to the Championship? No, not this coming season.
Do I expect the Bale consortium to buy Cardiff City? No. I do not believe they will offer the owner enough.
btw. I believe we should now refer to our owner as The Owner or 'he who must not be named'.

I think this is the most concerned I have ever been under tan, if we dont get this right this season by going up i can see us in free fall.
Have you ever seen a club leave it just weeks to get players in and settled ? Or even take so long to get a manager in?
Pure lack of communication, zero belief from the board for ambition to get right back in the higher league. We are ran like an amateur club and it scares the shit out of me.
If we fail to go up this season the number of fans will drop the season ticket sales will fall we will be in the worse state we have ever been.
For years me and a lot of others on here and around our club has been worried about the poor running of our club just to be shot down and told we are negative, but now our biggest fears have come true.
Yet our fans just smile and wave and get on with it, any other club would be outside that stadium daily screaming for the heads of the board to sell up and leave but not us! We just roll over pay our money and accept it, we are such a mess....im extremely worried
