Wales women's team

Fri Jul 04, 2025 11:27 pm

Good luck to the Wales women's team. They have their first game in the Euros today against the Netherlands at 5pm UK time, it's live on BBC One.

Their first ever major tournament.

Can't see them winning any of their games - England and France also in their group.

But should be a good experience for them.

Would love to see them upset one or two teams in the tough group they are in.
Come on you Welsh ladies!

As expected, being totally outclassed. But this needs to be treated as just the beginning of growing the women's game in Wales. It will improve over time.

Its a great achievement so no criticism but Jess Fishlock has all the hallmarks of Bale in the World Cup, visibly unfit, but their reputation and previous contributions mean they have to be selected.

Finished 3-0. Like has been said on here, they were outclassed really.

Also agree with the Jess Fishlock comment.

France next for them and then England.

It has always niggled me that the Wales Womens Football Team may very rarely have any players who play for a Welsh Club.

I know there is a big push for the international womens team and these Euros are a major step, but they will get held back by the Welsh Womens League.

The grass roots game is way, way behind many other Leagues. Feels odd that Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham play in the Welsh system as opposed to their male counterparts.

The only Welsh Club represented in the Wales Squad is Gwalia United's goalie. Gwalia used to be cardiff Ladies and are the only Welsh Team in the English pyramid.
