Have We Replaced Quality With Effort?

Fri Jul 04, 2025 10:52 am

On the back of the O'Dowda leaving threads, and then the recent Rinomhota leaving; both seem to have had big praise.

For me, both were decent players, but surrounded by some really poor quality performing/poor effort players and have stood out.... but just by doing the hard yards.

Both played a part of a very VERY poor defence. Both didn't impact winning games that much in the return of goals and assists.

Have we had that much of a poor run that effort has replaced quality?

Would either of these get game time in a Malky or Dave Jones team? I don't think so...

What's your thoughts?

Mÿ view is that so far we have replaced underperforming poor quality with absolutely nothing at all.

If we don't strengthen the squad significantly with some quality and character before the window closes we will be closer to the bottom of the table than the top.

I think both would have played in a Malky team.

Rinomhota reminds me of Cowie a bit and O’Dowda of Conway.

Difference is the players around them would have been more up to it and the structure would have been solid.

We haven't made any signings yet but we will do.

Not going to judge the squad until the end of the window, it's pointless.

Hmmm, I would take Cowie and Conway over both. 100 times out of 100. The only comparison for me is that they played for the same club.

Cowie over Rino I think but not Conway over O’Dowda. It’s certainly a discussion.
