REPORTS ON MISSING BLUEBIRD DUO

Fri Jul 04, 2025 9:54 am

There were concerns over two senior stars who were absent from training this week. However sources claim both Perry Ng and Callum Robinson are currently injured

In the case of Ng, the right-back sustained an injury on the first day of pre-season and is likely to be out for as long as five weeks, which means he will miss the start of the League One season

Robinson is expected back ‘soon:ayatollah:

Robinson might not make it back fully fit by the start of the season, so with O'Dowda also leaving, we could be 3 key players down at the start of the season already.

This is why it will be a massive mistake to cut the squad down further. We will have no strength in depth available and we will have to throw in youngsters who are not yet ready.

We need a minimum of 2 players for every position, plus 3 or 4 versatile players who can cover several positions.

Ridiculous isn't it?

Not even played a friendly fixture yet and we're talking about injuries and how long players will be out for.

So why are so many players getting injured nowadays?

Probably some or all of the following factors I would suggest

Modern training methods
The condition of the pitches which have very little "give" in them.
Lightweight football boots
Emphasis on speed leading to muscle injuries
Over cautious approach to players returning from injury
Players themselves not wanting to return from injury quickly - lack of motivation.

It's interesting to note that there appear to be far more injuries in the game since it became virtually a "non-contact" sport in the last few years.

At the moment (and I accept this may change by the end of the transfer window) it looks like BBM has been told that he will have to get on with what he's got without any additions.

If we manage to get a fee for any player sold then a small part of that fee may be available to strengthen otherwise he'll just have to get on with what he's got.

Hardly a surprise that Robinson is injured, that's what he is most of the time.

Maybe a blessing where BBM may see that we aren’t doing a good job with looking after players. Don’t know if this means different physios etc.
