Aaron Ramsey's move to Mexico now confirmed

Thu Jul 03, 2025 9:22 pm

Wales captain Aaron Ramsey has completed his move to Mexican side Club Universidad Nacional, - known as Pumas UNAM.

It is understood Ramsey has joined the Mexico City-based club on a one-year deal and becomes the first high-profile British player to play in the Mexican league.

The 34-year-old shares the same agent as Pumas manager Efrain Juarez.

Crazy, absolutely crazy & I've stuck up for him on here whenever anyone has said anything bad about him but this is ridiculous.

Did he learn nothing from the Bale debacle? I thought he wanted to be closer to home? You don't get much further away, crazy, crazy, crazy, I just don't understand this at all.

You do not know the full story here, Ramsey did not want to go, he would have took took a new 12 month contract at a greatly reduced wage, but Choo was taking the piss only offering peanuts, myself I would have told Choo to piss off. More fool Tan for letting choo his pet puppet cock it all up
Ramsey always said he would like to carry on playing so if Wales did get to the world cup, he would be there leading them out. and city took advantage of that :banghead:

I get all that about Choo etc & him leaving and wanting to play because of the world cup, it's the Mexico part I can't wrap my head around. There must have been a load of clubs who would have taken him much closer to home.

Playing devil's advocate here because I actually agree with what you say.

But the flip side of the argument is he'll be more used to the climate when the World Cup is there (as well as USA and Canada) next summer.

Thus is how I read it, Ned; and he knows his new manager, too

Roger is correct on Ken Choi having a huge (and apparently vindictive) part in Rambo’s departure. Not sure what Tan said or knew of the goings on, but little goes on without his knowledge

i must agree, how many of us would stay in a job if offered a greatly reduced wage when you could do the same job for thousands more.

My understanding Ramsey had an option to have a third year at Cardiff in his original contract I would guarantee that the contract would have had conditions around the salary that could be offered if he took up the option
Don’t think anyone low balled him I believe it would have been dictated in the original contract

So he’ll spend his time on a Mexican treatment table, instead of a Cardiff one.

Exactly!

The club getting stick without knowing the full story.

The club didn’t want him and rightly so. He’s been a complete waste of time and money and would continue to be if he stayed.
If this was an English player or foreign player with his record there would be people rejoicing on here that he’s gone.

As a person and a Wales player I wish him good luck in Mexico.

Good luck to him.

I'm more than happy that we are freeing up big wages.

Didn't someone state on here that 100% Ramsey would not go to Mexico?
