Yeovil friendly is now an U21 game

Thu Jul 03, 2025 1:58 pm

Ahead of our pre-season campaign beginning next week in Spain, we’d like to issue the following update to supporters…

Cardiff City’s away fixture against Yeovil Town - taking place on Tuesday, July 15th – will now see a predominantly U21 side fielded against the Glovers.

This decision has been made due to the short turnaround between the First Team squad returning from their pre-season camp in Spain - where they will face Johor Dahul Ta’Zim and Southend United - prior to a behind-closed-doors match scheduled against Cambridge United on Friday, July 18th.

Tickets for supporters attending the Yeovil Town fixture are available at the prices below*:

Adult - £12

65+ - £8

Armed Forces - £8

Under 18s and Students - £5

Under 16s - £1

*Car parking is also available at £3 per car.

Purchase your tickets now directly from the Yeovil Town Ticket Office by calling them via 01935 423662 or here - https://mpv.tickets.com/schedule/?agenc ... kages=true

Please note that an update on our U21 pre-season fixture against West Bromwich Albion - initially scheduled for July 15th - will be issued in due course.

It does take the piss a bit though when some fans will have been preparing for this and maybe already bought a ticket, expecting to see the first team.

Hi Ned

I know we have chatted privately on this, and I may be bringing up all the excuses under the sun, but, I do believe I have a point where I say that we do not have enough players to cover all the games we want. Previous years players have had 60 mins here or there, ending up with a full game just before season starts.

On the basis however that we have 2 BCD friendlies against QPR and CAmbridge and 2 games against Southend and this Malaysian team, I dont think we can afford to give the players half game here half game there. We will neither be fit or prepared. Having to play full games at this stage is going to be damaging from an injury perspective.

The Pre season set up, approach, programme, opponents are appalling and really strike me as one that would be prepared by a parks team.

Very worried about August and Sept. Nobody at the club, BBM aside has a clue what they are doing, and I think that includes the players at the moment!

EDIT:: Forgot Notts County! Still on waters down my argument a little!

They are fair points Jonny. It's definitely a reasonable worry.

I am surprised by this today because I felt we had the right amount of friendlies, losing one could possibly be detrimental.

Really poor decision by those at the top of the club - again. They would have known a long time ago about the short turnaround between Spain and Yeovil.

Totally out of order. I have taken a day of work and booked up overnight for this already and tickets have been sold. The game is less than two weeks away and was probably the one which most people would have gone to. Great start by the club management

If I wanted to see the u21 I could save the time and money because I think they are playing Barry which is a mile and a half away from my house :banghead:

Poor by the club it must be said.

Not only is it poor planning, but it’s the fans who are spending money for the tickets, travel, and accommodation.

They should offer the chance of a refund to those affected.
