Cardiff City have lined up three new incomings for their under-21s team, including former Everton youth captain Matthew Apter.

Apter, a midfielder and Scotland youth international, is 19 and sees his deal with the Merseyside club expire tomorrow , he’s been released and it is expected he will be announced as a new addition to the young Bluebirds roster in due course.

Apter is one of up to three new additions Cardiff are understood to have lined them up for when they become free agents upon being released by their current clubs.

Darren Purse is back as manager , who has dropped back down to the under-21s following his stint as Omer Riza's assistant at first-team level where City were relegated.

Purse is back to prepare City for another Premier League Development 2 campaign.

So many think we have the best crop of players at under 21 that we have had for ages and Purse has been in charge of the age group for 4 years and some think he has had no impact on there development

We never, the majority of players that go through Purse get sent out on loan and we never see again.

Pleased with this. Good to be adding the best possible talent to our U21s.

Some will point out there has been no first team signings yet but there's a very good reason for that. The transfer strategy has changed because the manager wasn't happy with the initial targets.

It is also very positive that the club have allowed that to happen.

It's not even July yet so far too early to panic about that.

Will also point out that of the 11 or so players that have left, none of them would be first team starters.

But this is good news.

I believe BBM wants the U21 to step up at any moment, so I can see him taking their sessions and Purse being the manager, doing the admin, and travelling. We need a full-strength U21 group.

People say got best youngsters in years so is it simply his football tactics that are crap (we lose a lot) rather than his coaching skills?

Probably do joint training between First Team and U21s like Man City.

Don't know how we did training before this season.

Yeah don’t think we ever mixed them.

I like the idea of mixing as you can see if anyone in the U21s is actually able to keep up with the first team players
