Who Keep - Buy - Sell ? :

As it stands we have 27 players left .

11 have gone …..and in my opinion an excellent decision .


On paper we have a good squad ….if no one goes …but obviously some will be sold and some new faces will come .


My view is 5 to go and 5 to come . The outcome is Murphy’s call and his challenge .


Arguably , the remaining 27 players ….if we don’t buy or sell ….appear to be good enough for promotion . I will now list the 27 .

Like to keep NG & Wintle they would be good in this league.

For a start I would get rid of NG he became a bit of a liability towards the end of last season don't think he's got a fight for league 1 c.looked as if he couldn't give a shit about our league position

Like to keep NG & Wintle they would be good in this league.

Just think they’ve had their chances with us and their attitudes not the best

We can't give away half of them !!!!

How many championship teams would make an offer for anyone but the youngsters with potential?

CO'D & CR are both 30 with a history of injuries
Chambers is also 30. He isn't a centre half or full back (anymore). So a defensive sitter.
Willock is 27 so he has years in front of him, but has done little away from Rangers


Wintle & NG may be as championship sqaud players
Turnbull looks like he is struggling for a position in English football
And if anyone has watched video of Harvath then that's a non-starter.

I would allow the top 4 to go for almost free, allowing us to get replacements in

I dont think we're fine at all. I see a squad lacking character, speed and desire.

Personally I think the below:

Horvath: We don’t need both Horvath and Alnwick on their wages, with one being a full time bench sitter in L1 - Turner is capable of being a back up in L1

Robinson - whilst I would personally keep him (as he would do well in L1 regardless of how many haters he has on here) I feel he will get a move back to the championship.

I actually can’t see a massive amount of interest we will get from other clubs for the other players we have apart from Salech and Robertson - both of which we should be keeping and building a younger, more energetic team around.

Can't believe we gave him a 2year deal...

I think at least 3 or 4 more will go possibly even 5 or 6 if we are able to offload them (easier said than done) and I think virtually every person on this forum would almost certainly come up with the same players so you know who they are

We need to bring in at least 4 players possibly 2 experienced no nonsense leaders on the pitch and maybe 2 young loanees with energy and above all real pace

The squad underperformed massively last season and really need to step up this year

We all thought we had a play off pushing side last season and look what happened there, so writing names on a sheet don't mean anything to me.

A league 1 mid table squad at best as it currently stands.

Given how the team performed last season and how the club has been run in recent seasons I don’t think this will be sorted during 1 window, or even 1 season.

As others have posted, getting rid of the likes of Etete is likely to take time. Having dead wood in the squad is a result of the poor management of the club.

Really? This squad were massively mis-managed by Riza. A good number of them would easily get into a Championship team squad. Is it a balanced squad? No Do we need new leaders? Yes, but these are tweaks. If we keep the majority of this team with just 3/4 additions we will challenge for promotion. Keeping Salech will be key to this though. I think Wintle and Willock may surprise a few this year if they stay too.

We can and should challenge for promotion this year. The youngsters we have are very talented. If we add a couple of the right leaders we will be right to there.

By far the best squad in the league if Murphy can get them playing , keep the lot of them and blood a few of the under 21s and if Murphy gets it right we will walk this league.

Just wish I could share your optimism Wez, still players from last seasons diabolical performances are still at the club, and mentioning no names still some bad eggs in the dressing room, if these players can be shifted on and players brought who wants to play for the badge then then I would say we got every chance.
But at this moment in time a mid table or another relegation battle thats all I can envisage at this moment in time, sorry to be negative.

I think the club will do everything it can to cut as many costs and wages as possible.

My thoughts are that they will actively (but secretively) try to sell Salech, Robertson and Callum Robinson and possibly Rubin Colwill as they are, practically speaking, about the only four players who would be worth more than £1m each.

The money wasted on the likes of Simic, Daland and Turnbull has been absolutely shocking - nobody would buy them for a fraction of what the club was said to have paid for them and nobody is going to want to take the likes of Willock off our hands even on loan.

It's extremely unlikely I think that we'll pay a transfer fee for any player and I can't see any monies received from player sales being used to strengthen the squad.

A few will leave. Horvath, O'Dowda and Robinson for sure. Probably a few more and some fringe players.

There will be a few signings of course.

I am confident we will have a successful season because this manager actually has a plan, unlike others. Plays in the right way too.


But in terms of the squad - I will not judge it today, next week or four weeks from now. I will judge it when the window closes.

I know, in years gone by, it has been the thing to say "Cash In" on certain players.

But this season is different. Any money we get for transfers, I believe, will go straight into Tans Pocket

It will be like giving our best players away on a Free Transfer

That is the reason why, if we can, we need to keep our best players.

That’s promising . Re Salech if he hasn’t got a relegation clause I expect the club to slap on an 8-10m valuation. I don’t think many clubs would take the gamble after just four months in the championship
