A forum for all things Cardiff City

Some of our fans are saying "what do we do if things go bad with the new system" and "we will be in the same position in a few months when things go bad".
My view is this - what if it goes well?
I fully understand that some fans are on the pessimistic side because we've been starved of optimism in recent years.
But it's clear I am optimistic about the new manager. I've made no secret of it. And I will stick by it.
He speaks well, he has clearly learnt the difference between simple possession based football and possession with meaning due to his Man City experience.
I don't like comments like "I'll support him but..."
I'm also very concerned that some fans believe a new ownership will reverse the decision. I believe that is very unlikely for a couple of reasons.
First, although this isn't accepted by some, BBM has a good reputation in football. It's a fact that he left Man City of his own accord and that Leicester also wanted to keep him. He abandoned that to take the leap of managing his own club.
He is not a Riza. That's obvious to anyone with half a brain. BBM has a good reputation - he could have stayed at Man City and had a good life but he chose ambition and was supported in that by influential people.
So I believe a new owner would keep him.
Second, completing the EFL ownership test takes time now. We're talking a minimum of 2-3 months for everything to be accepted by the EFL. They now don't just look at it the money is there but also where the money has come from.
Gary Neville spoke about this. Him and Salford re-distributed the ownership and it took two months for the EFL to be happy. Will be much more complicated with us.
So anyone who are still upset because their choice didn't get the job need to realise that they won't get what they want. BBM will be in charge for the foreseeable.
So I am being optimistic here and my thinking is in the glass half full side.
He wasn't my choice, but I have researched him and it makes more sense by the day.
I just hope more people would buy into the optimism. It just takes a bit of reading.
Supporting the manager/head coach, does not necessarily mean supporting the owner.
Anyway, said my bit - that's my feelings.

This is a No Win for us - " If it goes well " - as we are Div1 and let's say doing well other clubs could come in for our manager.
If he talks the talk - then walk the walk and stay and get our club back to the Championship and beyond

I do laugh at the i'll give him "x" games comments.
If we have a poor start, then the "i told ya, cheap option, Tan out" quotes fly everywhere.
If we start well, then "I'll reserve judgement to the end of the season", then if we get promoted, nothing all aboard the BBM bus barely a dickie bird, maybe the odd i was unsure but we should have been promoted with that squad.
For those thinking a cold, logical hedge fund consortium with investors looking for returns would hire a novice manager without a pro license just because he is mates with the minority shareholder, is for the birds. IMO there were three options
1- Experienced manager who has L1 promotions on his CV
2- Managers from lower EFL with multiple promotions
3- High reputation, untried coach from an impeccable background
Only Vincent Tan in the quirky, unconventional billionaire class recruits on a feeling.

I'm with you. I am firmly in the positive/what if it goes well camp until proven otherwise.
The age old optimist/pessimist view, which is what makes this sport and humans so interesting and lays the tone for debate.

Nonsense. If you don't give any manager 'X' games (5 is my personal measure to inform an opinion), then how the hell do they ever stand a chance?
The variance in games/time is individual.

I'll support him but will give him "X" games.

I think we'll start quite slowly, it's going to take time to drill the team. I guess we have 6 to 7 games before the window closes if it's not going well.
I think the advantage Luton and we have is that the talent doesn't fall off a cliff when you go deeper into the sqaud.
Last season we had the falling star in Rambo, genuine championship-level players in Robinson, Ralls, NG, CO'D & Chambers, then Salech as a newcomer.
Then you get to Rubin & Robertson & Ashford who struggled for consistency.
After those, it's players who haven't cemented their name in the championship. I think most of those are at least decent L1 players.
So the deepest squad player will be decent L1 with a sizable group who should be plying their trade in the championship. As the nights close in, we should be a drilled sqaud that understands the gameplan, but when we rotate, there should not be a tail off and we make that advantage tell in the second half of the season.
I was happy when we recruited a young German manager two seasons ago, ecstatic after 10 games, and hated him after 34 games.
