Transfers - don't expect any early movement

Fri Jun 20, 2025 4:06 pm

I'm sure the papers and usual social media pages will link players with us now there's a manager in.

I think these will all be nonsense for the next week.

That's because pre-season starts Monday. Before he decides on transfers, you'd think BBM will have a good look at the current squad in the first week. Will also chat to players about whether they want to stay - although he's been clear they'll only be sold if the club get the right fee.

Only after he's done that in the first week of pre-season will he have a clear idea of what positions he needs.

So I wouldn't expect much movement for the next week.

Agree with that. Me must assess the squad first.

I think we will know a lot more in a fortnight's time when the squad is announced who is flying out to Spain for preseason training.

It’s a shame we are so late with everything. No choice but to let BBM assess the squad and the gaps.

Bolton have already made 5 signings!

Do we even need much though?

The squad wildly underachieved last season.

We have the core of a title winning squad. It's about this possession style working.

Need a few additions but not much.

I think so.

Definitely need a GK, a winger, a 6, a CB and I’d also say left back. Striker definitely, only have one decent player there.

So you’re looking at 6 players in probably.

He would have probably watched every game from last season on the clubs video tapes.
He's already got a good idea of what he wants

If we're not going to be replacing those we've lost from last season then not only will we be seriously short of experience in a tough division but those that remain will have to discover a collective set of bollocks that they were sadly missing last season.

Massively underachieved and showed absolutely no fortitude towards the end of the season whilst other relegation rivals were fighting to survive most of our players (including many who'll still be here next season) were meekly surrendering week after week whilst giving the impression they couldn't give a shit.

We may have a competitive team based on footballing ability but as for bottle, heart, desire and willingness to fight we're quite a way short which needs to be addressed.

Totally agree with that analyses. We had a decent squad last year and on paper should have finished mid table at least. A decent manager, a few new faces and we should challenge the automatic spots and at least make the top 6. But we need a leader at the back.

We didn't have a decent squad last season because we finished bottom.

No team in the league was as soft as us, no team in the league was as easy to play against as us. No team in the league threw away more points from winning positions than us.

Our squad drastically needs changes. We lack leaders and characters. We need to be far nastier to play against. We need teams to fear coming to us. We need to make our stadium a fortress.

Teams enjoyed playing against us last season. That's why we finished bottom. Our squad needs a complete overhaul.

Been having a nose at potential signings and see eoghan oconell,s contract at Wrexham expires soon and they haven't offered him a new contract yet

Oconell is 29 played 39 times for Wrexham last season, but was also BBM,s captain at Rochdale playing 115 games

Could he be a potential experienced centre back we could grab on a free

It will be the same of late - Players have to leave while we target players and then get them in .
We are in Div 1 now the wage bill and income from TV will be less than last season .

Nine have gone already, apparently 4 have asked to grand offers will come in for others.if the 4 who Annis has heard have asked you go do go and we sell 1 or 2 more...that could be 15 out the door, need a mixture of experience and youth to come in, maybe 7 or 8
