Cardiff Squad and Gaps

Now we have the manager and retained list, I’m thinking where we could be right now and what positions could be needed. Below is likely the type of formation and roles the players could have.

Assuming Robinson, Willock, O’Dowda and Chambers are gone.

No news on Ralls or Rino yet.

Based on the above, I’d say a new 6 as suggested, a new GK, potentially a LB, a new winger, a new CB and some striker depth.

That’s 6 players in potentially, and we could see some more going.

What are your thoughts on the ins and outs? As for formation, likely gonna be this with BBM, but need the players in.

I have a strong feeling that Lawlor will be a first team starter.

We need a new goalkeeper. Maybe a loanee.

League One is a good division for a young goalkeeper to start senior football.

I'll use the example of Dean Henderson. He was an academy player for Man Utd. Got a loan to Shrewsbury, where they unexpectedly reached the L1 play-off final.

Now he's a contender for England's number one and a big reason why Palace won the FA Cup this year.

Hopefully with the Man City, Chelsea and Leicester links to BBM we can get a similar sort of keeper.

I think so too with Lawlor. Just listed them based on last season and not a preference of mine. Fish and Lawlor could work, BBM will definitely keep an eye on which ones can plays football.

Agree on GK, why I listed “New”. I think Horvarth leaves.

That no.6 position I have as “New”, as I think this is a vital position to fill. I don’t really like the options we have right now, and I think BBM will want someone new here too.

Ideally I'd say we'd need 2 pacy wingers, one commanding vocal CB and a CDM who is also a hard b*****d in the Ramsey mould. BBM wants players who can play so let's hope. :bluescarf:

A keeper should be our main priority at the moment.

This could change with our goings.
