But he wont invest in city under Tan would anyone? pointless exercise while tan here.. but this is latest wizzz by footballers a meaningless position.... can you imagine manager taking advice from an ex player no matter how good he was? Did say ages ago if City not careful will be left behind as there are several takeovers in pipeline in lower leagues

Plymouth probably cheaper.

He has no reason to want to buy us - he has no connection to the club and we're too expensive.

He's only doing a moderic not actually buying plymouth putting in a couple of quid ... but your right about city never shown any effinity to us in fact as he ever mentioned he's from Cardiff? :o

Gareth Bale has no connection to Cardiff City whatsoever, he was born in the area but that it is. If everyone born in Cardiff was a fan we would have 200,000 season ticket holders.

Footballers are not fans, We have seen enough of that this year....

That’s the truth of it, Ned. He was never on our books and even when he had an opportunity to come here as a player but decided on Los Angeles instead

But business is business and if the reports are correct, although they are different from different suppliers, Vincent Tan is already in discussions with a potential buyer or buyers

As ever, I’ll believe any of it when the ink is dry! :ayatollah:

May not have any links to the club but has two businesses here, I think, lives in the area and has a city icon as an uncle.

No club affinity but also no affinity to Plymouth either.

I'm with the OP on this one, there cannot be any truth in the story when City is for sale. Surely there would have been a "look see" with us.

With Modric not investing in a Croatian or Spanish team, do we think it is about not f'ing up where you are famous for fear of losing that iconic status?

He would be mad to invest in Cardiff with tan still at the helm but the article says takeover, not investment.

But Tan's ridiculous valuation of Cardiff is enough to put anyone off unless he's willing to reduce it

I agree, he was never on our books but he was a Cardiff city supporter as a child and said whilst he was a Madrid that he looks out for our results.

He used to watch his uncle, Chris Pike, or did I dream that?

Gutting if true. Tan has ruined the reputation of this club, no one wants to go near us.

Come to think of it, I would not either. Ultimately, it always goes pear-shaped.

We once waved Malaysian flags now would sell to almost anyone. Huw Jenkins is a Jack through and through and is universally despised. Even Leicester's owner is constantly criticized (i know its the son).

Of course he’s got links to our club and our City

He was born in the City, he has businesses in the City, his uncle played for us and some of Bale’s best ever nights as a player have been at the Cardiff City Stadium

I would be astounded if he had the choice of investing in us or Plymouth he chose Plymouth

I’m sure if the opportunity ever arose he would invest in us

Where's the connection to Cardiff City there?

The CCS he had his moments in was as the national stadium - not the CCFC stadium.

People trying to kid themselves that he cares about us

How can he invest in us when tan is not looking for meacemeal investors? Bale is simply doing a modric he's not taking over plymouth ! If was interested in city he could have directed them in tans direction but he hasn't

he went through the saints academy and he spent his career with spurs and Real Madrid

I don't understand why people feel he owes us something

he will always be a wales legend but he has never been anything to cardiff

he's a business man now and if he wants to invest or takeover another club then that's his business simple as that

Bale isn't rich enough to buy us , Plymouth will be much cheaper,

Re: I keep reading this, Surely can’t be True??

Just done some digging and it does look like the Storch Family who are behind this bid.

According to ChatGPT they are not overly wealthy. Certainly not in the league of Vincent Tan or Sam - and that the wealth runs into the tens of milliions as opposed to hundreds of millions.

ChatGPT describes them as mid level wealthy and not Mega Rich.

Reading this I suspect we would be well above their purchase level.

No one is suggesting he cares about us as a football team, or he owes us anything.

The intimation is that he already invests in the City of Cardiff so all things being equal you would think he would choose us over Plymouth if there was an option.

Obviously there isn't and I am more inclined to also think he wouldn't want the hassle if it went wrong. That's why I think Modric is involved at Swansea and not NK Zadar, where he was born.

Re: I keep reading this, Surely can’t be True??

There will be a lot of factors to take into account when investing in, or buying, a football club.

Assets, playing squad, debt, potential and probably the most important of them all, the asking price.

Plymouth would cost less, have less debt, and their fans probably wouldn’t be trying to get him out after 6 months if things went wrong.

He doesn’t owe us anything.
