It’s on C5 in the uk going to give it a go Inter Miami CF v Al Ahly first match , just kicked off .

Missed pen from Trezeguet of Al Ahly just before half time they look the better team

Re: Fifa club World Cup

Inter Miami shouldn't even be in it.

They didn't win any domestic or intercontinental title. Didn't qualify under the criteria for the tournament.

FIFA only put them in it because of Messi. Yet the actual winners of the MLS Cup aren't in it.

Who are we supporting in this Comp?

Need some skin in the game to watch other teams play.

Any tenuous links to Cardiff City?

It's a strange concept. A glorified exhibition tournament bankrolled by the Saudis.

I hope it wrecks the 25/26 season for all of them.

One of the sides involved was involved in our preparations for last season - Mamelodi Sundowns

I’m confused as to how teams qualify , I’m looking forward to seeing Boca Juniors. With there being no football on something to watch at least. Bayern Munich v Auckland at 5pm Auckland are part time I heard commentator say last night. PSG v Atl Madrid 8pm and Palmeiras v Porto 11pm :ayatollah:

The Bayern game isn't even on tv here but the other 2 later today are as was the game yesterday. Some good goalkeeping in the first game but not much else in the way of excitement, that penalty was all show & no goal, awful.

The qualification for this one is a bit of a mishmash.

Now it is set in the calendar for every 4 years, the next one will have team more relevant to the previous seasons results.

Could be a decent competition in future then

Bayern is on C5 but then you need to sign up to DAZN for the 2 later games they say it’s free on there .

Bayern 4 up after 21 minutes.

Mickey Mouse cup.

A team losing 4-0 after however short a time doesn't make it a Mickey Mouse cup.

One of the teams are amateurs so they're certainly outmatched but the same happens in the FA cup/ Champions lge. etc.

Not convinced about the whole thing yet though as there doesn't seem to be any sense to the qualification so that needs sorting but the idea seems sound enough but I am looking forward to seeing some of the South American teams play.

I just signed up & it was free. They obviously want you to sign up to their premium stuff but it does seem that the games for this tournament are all free to watch.

Bayern 6-0 up at half time against amateur team Auckland. Shows how much of a joke this tournament is.

I'll stick with the World Cup of Darts as the alternative tonight.

Might watch some of the games later in this tournament but I'm still unsure how serious it is.

It's Sunday & I'm bored so I'm just playing devil's advocate here.

Ignoring the Infantino being an idiot part do you Allan, believe that every cup that features an amateur or part time club is a Mickey Mouse cup or just this one? If so why & if not why not ?

I think the idea is sound & it would need tweaking for future tournaments if this is to keep going. Every 4 years before the WC makes sense but should it be elite teams only or teams from all over the world who have won something in the previous 4 years?

Feel free to join in everyone else, it makes a change from the usual arguments.

I see Worcester is also calling it a joke, so what is it that makes this a joke?

These are glorified friendlies, much like the Community Shield.

It doesn't really matter and that is shown by their struggle to find a broadcaster for it.

In the UK, it is being shown on Channel 5 and DAZN. If it had any sort of meaning then BBC, ITV, Sky, TNT etc would be queueing up to have the rights. Especially as it's something to fill the schedule in the summer, when there are limited new TV shows due to the lower audience in the summer.

Channel 5 is the lowest of the low for a broadcaster to show the games.

A week after this tournament ends, everyone will have forgot about it.

No im all for minor teams in cup competitions no matter what country it is seen many minor sides beat top sides but thats domestic football! but playing an amateur side in a world event to make up the numbers is non sensicle.... the competition is OK even if to big but infantino as made it a joke of a competition with parachuting messi into competition and trying very hard to get renaldo to play but had sense like debryne to say no but 10 nil says it all really..

Okay so you're back to Infantino. We can probably all agree on him & his motives.

The score line isn't the point & should have no bearing on the actual competition or should we stop Germany playing in the WC because Brazil beat them 7-1 ?. It's a new venture & will obviously need tweaking for next time.

You say everyone will have forgotten about it a week after it finished but I had forgotten about the WC a week after it had finished because Wales were crap & it was best forgotten.

It my well fade into the distant past & not run again but surely trying something new is better than nothing. It might turn out to be crap or it might turn out to be great but time will tell.

Could be fantastic competition but will anyone notice as interest in watching it is not exactly overwhelming? All this competition is its a power struggle between fifa and uefa and its the players that will suffer ultimately!
Players at top teams could pheoretically play 80games in a season at some point in future if the two organisations carry on with expanding their competitions which is likely as WC could expand to 64 teams every 2yrs if infantino gets his way so anything you can do so can we "uefa"

We don't need an extra football tournament, there are enough already.

After our season, I don't mind having a summer off football!

So I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Re: Fifa club World Cup

Its for the tourists. I doubt many madristas travelled over, but their games will be a sea of white.

I hate (in football terms) Citeh, Chelsea, Madrid, Barca, Juve....The beauty of the summer (or winter if the money drops deep enough) is that we forget club loyalties and all coalesce around our country or a friendly country.

I can't wait for Pep to bitch in January that his player are knackered. They all should be on holiday, but i guess this will be a leisurely pre-season. Be interesting do they taper off as the premier league doesn't start until 6 weeks after the WCC final

Agree it’s a bit much for the players but they get paid silly money. Apart from poor Auckland hopefully they get some sort of bonus for being there  Not everyone’s cup of tea but something to watch to pass time. Hopefully see some good matches as it gets to the knockouts .
