A club at the heart of the community and with a captive market.
The club are the sole first class sporting team in the area.
It is wonderful that the population are born dye in the wool Mackems.
We probably suffer from being a capital city, with a plethora of first class sporting teams.
That said, get to the top and the market is enormous.

As my late dad used to say about them ‘they’d have 20K turning up every other Saturday to watch the grass grow!’

that's great support, a big club, even in League one they were packed most weeks and from what I remember used to sell out away ends
