Some of you may, or may not , know who Billy Boston is but, for those that dont, Billy was a former Welsh Rugby Union Player - born in Tiger Bay - who switched codes and went on to join Wigan Rugby League where he had 15 fabulous seasons with the "Cherry and Whites" winning many honours during that time.
I know Billy personally and have many long conversations with him at "The Silverwell" on Darlington Street East in Wigan - a pub his family owned for many years.
In recent years he has not been in good health but he remembers fondly of his time in Cardiff .
Anyway after many years of canvassing he finally become the first Rugby League player to be knighted.

I met Billy about 20 years ago, his nephew, I think it was, worked on the door of the prince of Wales in town and Billy was in Cardiff the one day so he introduced us to him in the pub. A very modest, unassuming man, a Welsh sporting legend.
