When the story about Ramsey to Mexico first appeared yesterday in a short article by a newspaper, I thought it was nonsense.
When it was being reported by journalists with a good reputation today, we had to accept it was true.
Now it's being said that the deal is not done.
But I just don't get why Ramsey would go there anyway?
He came back to Cardiff from Nice because his wife was homesick and wanted to live back in South Wales.
So I can't see her wanting to move to Mexico. Would be tough for Ramsey to move there on his own.
In fact, everything about it doesn't smell right.
Wouldn't be surprised if it was a red herring ahead of him being named manager.

I agree with you i think someone is having a laugh . Tuesday morning after the wales games I think he will be announced.

Pretty sure his family didn’t move to Italy or nice when he played there so I’m assuming they wouldn’t go if he goes to Mexico.

Not sure what day of the week it is. Does Aaron want to be a player for another season or a manager?
The rumour said "player" to me and i think thats the right decision, Mexico sounded insane but surely there must be other options. Most players give up internationals for club but Wales holds this group.
If he is to retire from playing, then the city has to put a big team around him and incentivise success, he can't be on big salaries though, he wouldn't elsewhere.
Its all mad, but why would it be anything else

Whatever happens, you’d imagine the the chips are probably in the hands of the prospective candidates, and not our board. Which might end up being a good thing for us fans. More assurances over transfer and wage budgets can surely be demanded due to how poorly this process has been handled by the board.

If they give it to Buckingham and release Ramsey, then after the initial furore, this period will be forgotten.
If they appointed Ramsey as manager, it would solidify the crowd a bit, as we were reluctant to slag off Hudson, and Rambo is held in higher regard. That regard may be a threat to the ownership, though, as we'll believe him over them. But thats assuming they give a rats arse what we think.
I think it will be Buckingham

They never
And they told him to join Cardiff
And don’t want him to go to Mexico either.
The Mexican stuff has been well exaggerated

The deal is definitely not signed, we will find out over the next few days one way or the other.

I spoke to his grandfather last year about the above - When he was in Italy the family were there for sometime .
In France Colleen and the boys were here and Rambo was given an extra day off from the squad to spend here .
Also he told me if I got time to tune in to S4C - Colleen has her own cookery show Bywda a Bwyd - not sure if that's still on ?
Let's not forget their boys are with the club and I can't see them going there .

Why is there an assumption that his family would move there, for what is, just 12 months max.

As a city fan for so long now 55 years I will wait until official announced before I comment
Mon Jun 09, 2025 12:05 pm
It all sounds ike his agent trying to get more money
Realistically what club is going to pay a lot of money for a player who for the last 5/6 years has on average been fit for less than half a season.

People quick to blame the board with this Ramsey situation and rumour coming out but not blame Ramsey for not saying anything despite actively posting all over Instagram on his stories?
Poor show/look from Ramsey IMO, lack of respect going on from his side.

Aaron Ramsey does have the same agent as Pumas manager, and former celtic player, Efrain Juarez.
Could this be a story concocted by AR agent?

Also here is the Pumas current squad
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/unam-pu ... erein/7633They are a young side with plenty of pace and with average age of their midfield aged 23. Why would they want to sign a 34 year old. It just doesn't fit

Mexico is being used as a negotiating tool, he won't go there, all the people believing it

During a segment on Fox Deportes show Punto Final, former Mexico and Pumas player Francisco 'Paco' Palencia called the signing into question, suggesting Ramsey was in two minds about whether to stick to playing and questioning his ability to keep up with the fast pace of Liga MX.
"Honestly, it's tough, because you're getting into the coaching thing and you want to go back to playing," said Palencia. "So, that means you're not really sure what you want to do, if [you want to be a] coach or player, right? In this business you have to be very clear if you want to be a coach or you want to keep playing football.
"The quality, of course he has it. He’s given a lot to the famous Arsenal. But I think at the moment you have to bring in players who really are going to perform for you, because the pace of Mexican football, in the sense of what Pumas is with its identity - that intensity, that tension, that Puma spirit, running for the whole 90 minutes - I don’t know if it’ll be enough for him, being already on that dividing line of wanting to be a coach or not wanting to be a coach anymore.
Asked if the acquisition of Ramsey would boost the Pumas' current side, he added: "He’s a very good player. He’s really good. Yeah, he's a god with the ball, seriously. He's a god with the ball. But it's much more of a media thing. You have to run. The other nine have to run, because the goalkeeper doesn't run."
Meanwhile, presenter Vero Gonzalez also questioned the move, suggesting that the Welshman is too old and too injury prone to be a good fit for Pumas.
"They need energy, they also need players from their youth academy. And if they're going to be foreigners, they need to perform above the level, because lately those foreigners haven't been delivering.
"This guy comes with injuries, almost 35 years old. Sure, he was a big name, but these days he was barely playing. I don't think it was the best choice. It's much more of a media thing."
The Record report Pumas and their board have offered Ramsey a salary higher than his Cardiff one, saying he will earn around $2.5million a year, although that is disputed by other outlets, who cite a lower figure.
The Record also mention that the coach of the club, Efraín Juárez, shares the same agent as Ramsey, David Baldwin of the Avid Sports & Entertainment Group agency.
Tue Jun 10, 2025 10:36 pm
Ramsey was pictured having dinner with Baldwin and others on Instagram at the weekend.
Tellingly, the club have also just had a FIFA transfer ban removed from them after an administrative issue was resolved.
They are now free to add to their ranks and Ramsey would certainly be a marque signing. Reforma state Ramsey is close to agreeing a two-year deal with the Pumas “but some financial details remain to be finalised”, with it being likely a one-plus-one contract.
