Interesting - Past 4 L1 winning managers

Sat Jun 07, 2025 7:23 pm

We have a debate about experience vs up and coming with little to no experience quite often on here.

It’s interesting though that the past 4 winners of League One:

Birmingham - Chris Davies
Portsmouth - John Mousinho
Plymouth - Steven Schumacher
Wigan - Leam Richardson

Have all won the league with a manager who’s first proper managerial role was with that club.

Granted, they may have held coaching roles or assistant roles, but it does work.

That being said, I’m still in camp Buckingham and don’t think Ramsey is right at this time.

Too inexperienced, squad not good enough or owner panicked?

The championship is a big step up, so Buckingham is in decent company that get sacked after promotion.

Portsmouth - John Mousinho - Survived the season
Plymouth - Steven Schumacher - 19 games championship then sacked
Wigan - Leam Richardson - 19 games championship then sacked

It all depends on what setup there is behind the scenes.

I can't be bothered to check with those clubs but I'm sure they probably had a much better setup.

I think most fans will accept Ramsey if there is a better structure - which Ramsey himself said we need.

I reckon that's a safe bet

I doubt many have an absent owner, part-time CEO, and an even more absent Chairman, No Dof, a head of recruitment with no history, and a series of managers with zero experience......

That’s the problem we have no one running the important part of the club to get the actual manager and team sorted. Seems there’s people employed to advertise season tickets tho which is weird. Pre season sorted in Spain which is weird. Please get out of our club put the fans out of there misery you pig headed fks.
